This disturbs me a lot. . . I am a Reagan era survivor, and I can say that Reagan drove up the National Debt at a rate that only the present occupant has exceeded. →[More:]

For McCain to cite Reagan as his model for dealing with the deficit is just ludicrous. We did not grow our way out of the deficit.

But then naming an airport after him was pretty bogus also, IMO.

Except Reagan did raise taxes, several times.

McCain is so wrong on basic facts, let alone his lack of economic knowledge.

McCain seems to still be running for the Republican nomination and not the general election. I thought that you were supposed to "run to the middle" after you got the nomination, he seems to be hardening his right-wing points in both foreign and domestic policy.

Reagan was not the devil. Y'all are too young to remember the Ford-Carter years with raging inflation and few jobs. Housing loans got up to 14 percent, people!

Somehow Ronnie got it turned around.

Reagan was not the devil. He (merely) nudged this country in the wrong (imo) direction, the same one which the second Bush has taken us WAY down.

But for McCain to cite Reagan's fiscal policies as a model, in response to a question about the deficit belies the facts.

I suspect that the only relevant fact, in this case, is that canonizing Reagan has proven to be an effective vote-getting strategy for Republican candidates.

I don't think Reagan was evil per se, just an idiot who was the public face for some pretty evil people. To be truly evil requires a certain amount of intelligence. Reagan was a dupe, in a very similar way I think GWB is dupe. They aren't smart enough to create opinions for themselves, and are easily manipulated.

Ummmm.... because it is a benefit to those who are in the Senate maybe? The fact that I am paying for your prescriptions, Senator McCain, has nothing to do with Medicare.
