I swear I'm not drunk but ...→[More:]... I'm watching some early NYPD Blue and I have to say that David Caruso was pretty damned sexy fifteen years ago.
You are so right, ej. I still think he's sexy in CSI Miami. And I don't usually go for redheads. He conveys such a sense of quiet strength and honor. (I know, I know... he's just written that way. Still.)
I don't remember what I've admitted to, but I'm sure I'm cred-less as well. However. David Caruso? He's some sort of test of our willingness to put up with hammy, smell-the-fart acting isn't he? I mean, really, he's quite ridiculous.
I remember my then-husband renting this on the title alone, thinking it was going to be some kind of shoot-em-up action thing. He was not best pleased to discover it was a romantic comedy. I enjoyed it though.
And, Caruso. I think he worked in NYPD Blue because
a) he was new and different (a pig-faced redhead as leading man? No way!)
b) his 'quiet' type of acting worked perfectly as a foil to Dennis Franz's frenetic style.
By the time he got to CSI Miami, his behind-the-scenes assholery was well-known and his film career was dead (read Bochco's novel 'Death By Hollywood' if you need any more details, there's a thinly-disguised version of Caruso in there). The novelty had worn off for me well before CSI Miami.
