I swear I'm not drunk but ... [More:]... I'm watching some early NYPD Blue and I have to say that David Caruso was pretty damned sexy fifteen years ago.
Agreed. (It's the redhead thing.)

And the voice. He has a great voice.

You are so right, ej. I still think he's sexy in CSI Miami. And I don't usually go for redheads. He conveys such a sense of quiet strength and honor. (I know, I know... he's just written that way. Still.)

Course, I am drunk.

I don't like him in CSI Miami, I think he's aged badly, and I find all that sunglasses business annoying.

Well, then, you're out of the fan club. ; )

Ewwwww ... he repulses me. He's sort of fetus-y.

But, I mean, it's cool if you like that sort of thing ...

Y'know, I ordinarily despise Jim Carrey worse than root canal work and Morrisey combined, but his imitation of Caruso's overacting is dead-on.

I can't point any fingers as I have no taste cred left with myself. I just heard a Brad Paisley song on the radio...and it made me cry.

The heart wants what it wants....

YOU have no cred left? I've copped to having the hots for Billy Mays... I'm surprised anyone will still be seen in public with me.

Hell, I've confessed to getting hot-n-bothered by Carol Kane. I'm beyond cred, but cred is for kids.

I don't remember what I've admitted to, but I'm sure I'm cred-less as well. However. David Caruso? He's some sort of test of our willingness to put up with hammy, smell-the-fart acting isn't he? I mean, really, he's quite ridiculous.

Although, he was alright in Mad Dog and Glory.

Mad Dog and Glory.

the screenplay of which was written by my man Richard Price. I'm just saying.

In the beginning, before he disappeared up his own ass he had something. Now i when i see him all i think is "He looks like a burn victim."

I now think this thread was a trick to lure me into an embarrassing admission. I hate you all.

ooo he was a cutie!

god bless youtube because I never managed to see NYPD Blue.

I don't mind the look so much as the terrible acting (ala CSI: Miami -- sorry Pips!)

Oooh, yeah, loved that film Mad Dog and Glory, especially Bill Murray's role!

Mad Dog and Glory

I remember my then-husband renting this on the title alone, thinking it was going to be some kind of shoot-em-up action thing. He was not best pleased to discover it was a romantic comedy. I enjoyed it though.

And, Caruso. I think he worked in NYPD Blue because

a) he was new and different (a pig-faced redhead as leading man? No way!)

b) his 'quiet' type of acting worked perfectly as a foil to Dennis Franz's frenetic style.

By the time he got to CSI Miami, his behind-the-scenes assholery was well-known and his film career was dead (read Bochco's novel 'Death By Hollywood' if you need any more details, there's a thinly-disguised version of Caruso in there). The novelty had worn off for me well before CSI Miami.
