How do you stay motivated in the face of constant rejection? I remember someone telling me five years ago that becoming a successful academic is persevering in the face of constant rejection. And to some extent I've become waay more thick skinned than when I started as a grad student 5 years ago.

But, I never thought my ego would take such a pounding (So far the odds have been 15 rejections for each win/acceptance.) I'm talking grants/awards/papers etc. Anyone have motivational advice or experiences to share (academia or otherwise)?
