Pysanky - Ukrainian Easter Eggs Youngergirl44, this is for you.
[More:]
Inspired by your easter eggs, I went looking for an old friend who was into egg art and egg carving and found out he died last month. So I went looking round for links about egg art and egg carving that would make a metafilter-worthy post. I couldn't really.

So here's what I got:

Obligatory Wiki link

Engraved eggs

Pysanky Showcase

Fabergé eggs (more history)

The Process of Egg Carving (badly designed site, but good stuff)

And some silly stuff
Well, I'm not YoungerGirl44, but I am fascinated by this - thanks! I'm sure it's harder than it looks but for about $30 for a beginner kit, I think I just might give it a try. They're beautiful!
(ps I love your username - very creative)

Thanks! I've always wanted to try the Pysanky eggs. I think they're a little too involved for my dad's house so I'll do them at home. Now, the egg carving is AMAZING! The puzzle piece egg is wonderful. I didn't know what a rhea was, so I looked it up. It's like an ostrich or emu, just shorter.
