Wordy Wethursday: Portmanteaus(-eaux?) [More:]

As in Tanzania (Tangyanika and Zanzibar) or tomacco (tomatoes and tobacco).

Any favorites?
ooooh I came up with a really good one I thought.

Lettidor - This is a letter to the editor. Much simpler.

I find that I use guesstimate and automagically pretty frequently.

I really dislike words made like this. This is how we get abominations like webinar and prosumer.

I think trustafarian is a pretty good one. And jazzercise!

To salute persons who have made academic achievements, I like to say "Congraduations!" but I'm not sure if it's understood.

I also like to add "-tastic" to the end of words to add emphasis... It's not just Fun, it's Funtastic! It's not just Crappy, it's Craptastic! It's not just a Snack, it's Snacktastic!

And I remember many years ago when a radio ad for "Waterbed Warehouse" coined the word "humongous" to describe the size of the store, but I'm not sure if it qualifies as a portmanteau, because the "hu-" is for "huge" but I can't recall where "-mongous" camefrom.

This is a grumbling post. || Does deleting comments work well?
