AskMeCha: Firefox help? Help! →[More:]

This morning my status bar (the one at the bottom) disappeared, and no suggestions I'm finding via Google are bringing it back. I found a suggestion to delete a file called downloads.rdf from my Mozilla folder - did that. Installed the lastest version over my current version - did that. Went to Control Panel and totally unistalled and did a clean install...did that. Nothing...still no status bar. What really dumb thing am I overlooking? Can any administrator hope me out here?

OS and firefox version?

I am seeing a lot of plugins and such which have oddnesses that cause the status bar to disappear. Did you install anything new before shutting firefox the night before?

I don't see any options for removing or replacing the status bar. It just sort is there. . .ho-humming.

If reinstalling didn't fix it, the problem's in your user profile. You need to save the stuff you want (history, bookmarks, extension data etc) from your profile, delete it and create a new one. Mozillazine: Migrating Settings to a new Profile. Make a profile backup first.

My status bar disappears when I have a downloads window open in XP. Even if it's just sitting there saying the file has completed downloading, until I close that little window - no status bar. Annoying.

It couldn't be as simple as having Firefox non-maximised and the status bar is hiding under the task bar, could it? Please don't hit me, I'm just asking because that happened to me the other day.
