I Don't Like Mondays Seems like we have ourselves an old-fashioned financial panic.[More:]Yeah, you know -- the things that went out with flapper skirts and Prohibition, because we now had a regulated financial market!

But of course, our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity couldn't last forever.

There's consolation, though. The Bush family may need to move into FEMA trailers. Or something.
I had that Onion article pinned to the bulletin board in my office for years until it got too true and I had to take it down.

I thought these things went out with bell bottoms and polyester leisure suits. (Because, stilicho, the last big panic was in the 70s, not in the 20s).

Uh, or maybe in the 80s. But still, not THAT long ago.

I like the comment explaining that two dollars per share is actually zero "adjusted for inflation". Made me giggle. Then I checked my own company's stock price and stopped giggling.

Now everything is back up (for now).

Someone taped a two dollar bill to Bear Stearns' door.

One of the nicer people in my building worked for them...but I won't know what his situation is until I get back.
