So now I don't get to ship out to the Navy for another six months. My appendix ruptured on the 9th and I just got out of the hospital on Friday.→[More:]

At least it happened here at home. It all started on Friday, but I thought it was just constipation. On Sunday night, it hurt enough to go into the hospital, where they identified the real problem and I was rushed into surgery. When I woke up I felt much better, but I had a recurring fever for several days (the doctor said I had a white cell count of 18,000). My dad notified my recruiter, who came in on Monday to let me know that my job and bonus are secure, and that I'd get a six-month deferral on my ship date (previously the 18th).
