14 December 2007

I need your well-wishing vibes... I've embarked on what will probably be 15-20 hours of housecleaning and organizing before Monday. I'll be lucky if I don't go insane. I'm embarking on my own personal "How Clean Is Your House?" I know the answer: It's nearly the den of a psychotic (although, to my credit, there are no nasty smells.)
And how are you? ;-) [More:]

Tell me I can do it? Send good thoughts (or Xanax)?
You can totally do it. Once, I thought our apartment was uncleanable - we have so much stuff that it couldn't possibly look uncluttered. Then the weekend of Thanksgiving we had the BF's mom, stepbrother, stepsister, aunt, cousin, grandma, and grandpa over (read: more family than has ever been at the apartment at one time). We cleaned and we cleaned and it looked great! I call it 'family clean'. The best part is: once you do get it done, if you keep it up then it'll always be clean. You can do it!!

Ooo, put on good music, and start cleaning away! Youngergirl's right, once it's done, you feel better, it looks great, and it's easier to keep that way. One of these days I'm attacking the kitchen walls!

I am in a similar situation this weekend. For some reason I decided I needed to de-clutter and to just rid myself of all the things I don't use, don't want, don't need - NOW. I didn't realize how much of that stuff I owned. So now I've got a kazillion bags littering my computer room and bedroom.

I stupidly didn't plan for what I was going to do with all the bags of trash. Trash day is Friday here. Naturally, I was working on this stuff when the trash people came so only got a couple bags out there. The trash guys won't be back for a week! Fortunately, it's not stinky stuff and a lot of it can be dealt with by taking it to the recycling bins (paper stuff, cardboard stuff, magazines) - at the same time I cannot deal with bags of stuff taking up space for a week.

I may end up putting some of the bags in the garage for a week - I don't use the garage for my car (I'm surprised the garage structure is still standing.) I can't just set bags outside because it looks bad + there are raccoons.

Good luck to you!

I've seen worse. Much worse.

Go over to www.flylady.com as they have a crisis cleaning plan that might come in handy for you. And if you have a timer, use it. They are great for keeping you on task.

Go get em, tiger!

wooohooo, shane!!! You are going to feel so good afterwards.

How long will this be going on? I'm going to tackle my closets in solidarity. :)

Best luck to your cleaning frenzy. I've embarked on a similar expedition, just this week. However, it's not over a weekend, it's (hopefully) extended. Since I'm not sleeping well, I've been waking up at 3:30 AM every day. Finally, decided to start getting up at 4 and doing a couple hours of straightening/cleaning. I have a closet floor now, and the dresser top is visible.

Hooray for clean - you can do it!

(course, I should be cleaning now...)
