14 December 2007

The BLIMP has been launched Years from now, you children will ask you where were you when IT happened. Get on your horse, wave you flag and join the throngs of supporters in the streets supporting THE candidate for 2008. RON PAUL: THE PRESIDENT AMERICAN NEEDS.

[More:]
I personally love how they're violating campaign finance rules since the people paying for the blimp is a for-profit company. And see kids? Bot spamming the internet works!
wtf - Ron Paul is John Galt?

There is no one more annoying on the internet than a rabid Ron Paul supporter. They're everywhere.

I still have NO IDEA who Ron Paul is and I plan to keep it that way.

There is a big Ron Paul fan in my neighborhood- lots of handwritten signs and banners around.

If they can afford a blimp, you'd think they could hire a graphic designer to create a non-fugly sign.

Ron Paul signs are all over the highway entrance and exit ramps in the Chicago suburbs. Some with "catchy" non sequitur catch phrases that seem geared for the younger demos (I can't think of a single one now). Like ThePinkSuperhero says, the sign very in quality from hand scrawled to printed - but none of them are very fancy.

You know, I was on the Ron Paul bandwagon for a little while, but then it occurred to me that another politician might not be the answer. I would really like to see a social change from the ground up. What change that would be, I can hardly guess where to start. I don't understand why people are always looking for some kind of father figure to tell them how to think. What's important to you and are you doing anything about it?

Plus there's always that pesky Reptilian-Brotherhood-controlling-the-global-elite problem...

Apparently, he's a nobody, for if he were somebody, you wouldn't have to use Google to find out who he is.

Also, they could only afford to put a sign on one side of the blimp.

The future of America.

From a non-U.S. perspective, I have to say... eh? Who?

I know he's supposed to be "the internet candidate" - but since nobody I know on the internet seems to want to have anything to do with him - well, I question the sobriquet.

I think Ron Paul is this year's Howard Dean- the guy who pushes the limits of traditional campaigning. Just like the Deaniacs were, Paul's followers are pretty rabid... like this guy:

I don't really buy the Ron Paul == Howard Dean argument. Dean's supporters may have been fanatical but his views were pretty much in line with mainstream Democratic party views. Ron Paul may be more or less crazy than mainstream Republicans depending on your view but he definitely doesn't fit in with them. Dean now runs the Democratic party, what are the chances that Paul would ever do that?

One of the most interesting things about Ron Paul and his campaign is how they've gotten the media to describe him as an 'obstetrician.' Ten years ago or so, back before he had any national recognition and only the Texas press covered him (usually for some wacky vote he cast in the House), he freely admitted to the gynecologist part. I guess it's a little too strong of a word for him now.

And he looks like Marty Crane from "Frasier"
