I can't believe it's been 25 years. It was overblown, overpriced, overhyped... and so much fun. Thriller was ubiquitous on the radio and, more importantly in those days, on MTV:

Billie Jean
Beat It
Smooth Criminal
Thriller[More:]

I was in college when this album came out, and thought I was too cool for MJ's music.
I finally learned otherwise.

OBLIGATORY: Yes it's a shame he fell apart OMG his face Bubbles Neverland creepy so sad blah blah
The Girl is Mine

Never forget.

me too, BP! I remember going to many parties where this cd was playing.I also dug Wanna be Startin Somethin, Black or White, The Way You Make Me Feel and some others.

And I'm TOTALLY kicking myself for not seeing Stevie Wonder here last week.

my favorite bands in 1982 were rush and black flag*, so i really wasn't paying much attention to mj back then. by the time i graduated from jr. high, though, he was insecapable. he still is.

i've since developed an appreciation for off the wall, though. but that's about as far "into" mj as i've ever gotten.

every time i see mitt romney on tv, i hear "ben" in my head. funny how that works

* i realize that this pairing still doesn't make much sense, but there you go.
