Weird Anti-Terrorism Postal Knowledge [More:]On the way to work today I stopped at the post office. After using the automated postal center, I was going to drop the package in one of the boxes, but each of them had a sticker that said "If your package is over 13 ounces you must drop it off at the counter."

So I did.

The clerk told me, "You don't have to do that, that's for people who drop their packages off from on the street, if you use the automated postal center, it takes your picture."
Note to self: wear red rubber nose on next trip to post office. (I use the automated postal ctr. all the time.)

I vaguely recall it's something like 20 times a day, Grace. I wonder what it is in Canada or the U.S.

My automated postal center has a huge automated box attached that opens to take the package. I love that thing. It doesn't surprise me that the machine takes pictures since they accept credit cards & debit cards.

Fun Fact: When I send package from the main post office here in PVD, it has to go through an xray and then get a stamp saying that it was inspected by the US Marshalls. This is because the Post Office shares a building with several Federal Offices and has heightened security measures to prevent mail-bombs. It does have the side benefit of amusing the hell out of people who I send mix CDs to wondering what contraband material I'm smuggling.
