29 November 2007

Three-point status update. [More:]
1. The man sitting next to me on the DLR this afternoon smelled bad. You know that sort of musty old-man smell. But he wasn't that old, in his 50s. He looked uncared-for. Now my clothes also smell from having to be next to him and they are all in the laundry basket.

2. I came home to find two CDs a friend had sent me. A lovely surprise. Made my day.

3. The episode of Project Runway (Series 3) I thought I'd missed is repeated tonight, and now I have Sky+ I can record it while I watch something else I mustn't miss! Woo! Yay! TV!!!
1. Occasionally listening to snatches of the Alison Krause/Robert Plant collaboration Raising Sand. Birthday present from new GF. Nice! CD's not bad either. :o)

2. Trying to figger out, in odd moments, an inexpensive but meaningful gift for GF.

3. Ever had the trots nonstop for 3 wks? Dr. gave me Florastor, but running annual blood tests anyway in case something spooky's going on. Not sweatin' it at this point. It's probably just stress from certain events last month.

1. i put on some moisturizer from an old chanel sample the other day and some residual base smell of old lady powder has permeated my shirt. It's really bothering me.

2. i really hope the new PR is available somewhere.

3. Things do not totally suck. Yet.

1. I need to declare my major, and figure out when/where/how I'm studying abroad. IT IS COMPLICATED
2. I don't want to do statistics homework. Furthermore, I don't want to do statistics for the rest of my life. This is potentially problematic.
3. Iowa is cold!

1. The clothes are too tight -- am really ramping up my workout frequency and intensity.
2. Trying to eat better too.
3. Oh geez, I just went away for Thanksgiving, do I HAVE to go away for Christmas TOO? Trying to get out of it without creating upset.

1. Me too, JanetLand, me too.
2. It's raining and cold. Phooey. let's have some snow, please.
3. Long evening ahead. Long December ahead. I'll have Saturday off but that's it - after that I'll be working straight through the 22nd, a tiring prospect.

1) 2 people died unexpectedly last night.
2) I keep running into lefties who think authority figures have their best interests at heart.
3) The number of people in my life with weird immunodeficiency diseases is snowballing. I'm sick of their MDs blowing them off.

1) finished configuring things and sending things.
2) Now getting my bounces and sorting them.
3) Gassy, boo.

4) And there's STILL no snow in the Sierras. Skiing is the only thing that makes winter bearable.
posted by small_ruminant 29 November | 15:32
5) And Contra Costa County STILL isn't letting us clean the oil off their beaches. Everyone else is finishing up the dribs and drabs.

1. I had an awesome interview today.
2. I'm worried about telling my dad about #1.

1. Back is achy, achy, achy for the third day in a row. (It really ought to be spelled 'achey,' but Firefox says no.)
2. Money woes will mean borrowing from the folks, which I hate and which is making me queasy with anxiety. And I keep putting the phone call off, which only makes it worse.
3. Other than that, perfectly happy and just a touch giddy-swoony.

1. A different perfumed lotion seems to have trumped the old lady smell.
2. The Bees is coming for a visit. Now.
3. This is a total surprise that throws everything into disarray as i am sorely underslept, but kitty!

1. My son is back from 2.5 months in Europe doing an art history course followed by a couple of weeks of kicking his heels up in Amsterdam. He is, I swear, another two inches taller, which puts him at or just over 6 feet now. He has dreadlocks. He has grown a beard. He's... a young man. *blink*

2. I've been home sick for two days. Back at work today. Tired. But the weather is fantastic, just glowing sunshine.

3. My ex-sister in law is in jail again and keeps trying to call me for favours-- money for cigarettes and a phone card (which I can send tonight, a little bit)-- and as she'll be in over Xmas we are going to have to arrange some kind of a visit, I think. My poor mother; her genteel English upbringing never prepared her for this.

1. Lost my voice this morning. Started with a sore throat yesterday. The voice came back, but now I sound like Demi Moore.

2. Work was long, boring, and dull. Since I didn't feel good, it only made work worse.

3. I cannot seem to get my dog to heal from her weird allergies, and even the vet is perturbed about it.

1. Fucking stupid old dinosaur HP tc2120 server died in Shrewsbury - I think it's the mobo. I have another one lying around so I'm going to gut it and swap parts out.

2. At least I'm going to be in one of the 'good' offices with the lovely J to keep me company.

3. Chris Moyles is a fat, stupid, unfunny windbag.

If his first words upon entering the house were 'got any Twinkies?',' check his luggage.

1. I have some oddness vis a vis my digestive system which is making me feel like I ate several cans of expanding tire sealant.
I, to my knowledge, did no such thing.

2. My roommate, who hates Christmas and all things christmassy, did the sweetest thing for me... he knows I can't play decent games on my computer since I never upgraded the stock video card. So he called tech support for my machine, found out what kind of card it would support, and ordered one. I found him sitting in front of my opened tower swearing... tech support was wrong, and I don't have a pci express slot. He was hoping to get it installed and have Halo running when I got home from work. Even though it didn't pan out I almost cried I was so touched.

3. one part of my tattoo is slightly red and painful. It's dry, not oozing or sticky, and as cool to the touch as the rest of my skin, so I don't think it's infected. I think it just gets more beat up since I keep crossing my ankles and that's the "top" leg for me. I'm still checking with my artist tomorrow, though.

1. I put up a piece of music on MeFiMu (really a collaborative thing and really I don't really play, really) which was the first time I've ever done anything musical in (semi) public. Eee!
2. Work mostly awesome, my older students continue to delight me with their wacky stories of how this part of Vermont used to be in the 40s and 50s.
3. Leaving for ten days in Dubai on Wednesday.
