Jackpot Yahtzee! [More:]
An acquaintance gave my name as a referee on her job application at the hospital I work. I will get up to 5000 bucks, depending on how long she stays. 1000 dollars after 90 days for sure, another 1000 after one year.., etc. Wow, that was nice. I'm going to split the money with her.

The money will come in handy with my room re-do. It's going to be fabulous, y'all!
Awesome! With acquaintances like that, who needs friends?

I've never used the word referee in a sentence. I was unsure how to set that one up. Referral, referee, referrer?

It's not 'reference'? (Then again, I'm attending a bunch of seminars about reference next week, so maybe I've just got reference on the brain.)

Yes, box! Reference! Duh!

Wow - congratulations! Enjoy that reward.

That's great, but I'm totally lost. Why do you get money for being a reference?
posted by Specklet 20 November | 13:00
I'm not a reference, that's why I got mixed up on what word to use. ;-) I'm what you would call a recruiter I suppose. "Work at my hospital, it's great!" kind of thing. I did give her some advice on who to talk to and where to work because she asked, but I had no idea she would write my name as someone who recommended her to the job. I am always wary of recommending people I don't know that well because I don't want my name to be associated with slackers and such.

I'm guessing, but: Lots of turnover, and sometimes difficulty finding people to fill positions, in the medical biz. Other jobs with those same qualities (I'm thinking sales and restaurant work) also sometimes provide referral bonuses.

Forgot to add -- We have 5000 dollar sign on bonuses and 5000 dollars to existing employees that recruit nurses.

right, box.

Dang--I ought to quit my job and just recruit nurses all day.

Hooray Lori!!!!

Hey, I just realized my company has an "aggressive referral" program, too!

Anyone here a geologist or geophysicist looking for a job?
