That video is just about the best thing ever. When the mower goes flying up off the ground, it's exactly the kind of backyard surrealism I grew up wanting to see, reading Ray Bradbury and Madeline L'Engle, and damn if this doesn't give me the sort of jolt that their sorta-surreal fiction always did.

Wow... the story is sad and surprising. My husband used to build and fly RC helicopters*, and they were always flown in a huge empty field nowhere near houses or people or moving vehicles. I'm pretty surprised the operators themselves didn't insist on keeping them far, far away from spectators, even if the stadium officials might not have been aware enough the hazards to stipulate it (and how much awareness does it take, really?).

* one reason he no longer does is because we don't have a car now, and nowhere nearby wide and open enough to use.
