Tell me your weekend plans, and my Metachat dream [More:]What's the schedule, kids?

And I had a Metachat dream last night. I dreamed I was buying a house from OrangeSwan. It was HUGE- the master bedroom had a dedicated nail salon area, and a brook with a fountain. For some reason OrangeSwan was sleeping in the basement, though. She was selling me the house for $250,000, which I thought was a steal. Then, she started bringing in all these weird conditions- like, she's leaving all her stuff in the house, and clearing it out over a 2 month period after I move in (and I remembered mid-dream that OrangeSwan posted once about someone doing this to her, so I'm like, how could she??). Oh, and there are groups that hold meetings in the house- people I don't know, that can use the house whenever they need to hold meetings. Say whaaaat? Very odd.
I'm doing laundry, breaking in my new boots, and ignoring the dust bunnies. I'm also not worrying about money, dammit, and spending lots of time with the gliders. I may roast a chicken stuffed with onions and garlic and fresh rosemary.

Working for most of Saturday. Technology allowing, there will be a hot date that evening. Relaxing on Sunday but will go for a run only to reverse the benefits of exercise by consuming large amounts of food and booze at my parents' place that evening.

Specklet will also be buying the WINNING lottery ticket. STOP BUYING THE NON-WINNING ONES! Hee!

I'm working a lot. Here's a partial list of things that I hope to squeeze in time for somewhere: trip to the piercing place; trip to the drugstore; trip to Kebab 'n' Curry (yeah, I don't think it's a very good name either); night bike ride; Guitar Hero III.

I am: making naan; not going to the Mission of Burma show as planned; making three types of cranberry sauce/relish; going on a date I am significantly less than enthusiastic about; preparing the homestead for guests; shopping to bake goods on Tuesday; laundry; drinking whiskey; making squash dip with gruyere. I will probably also do some moping, whether I plan to or not.

Squash dip with Gruyere? Three kinds of cranberry sauce? Sounds delicious.

I am: getting some actual work done, now that work has built my reporting tools (not that I requested these months ago or anything); getting my requests for letters of reference out; studying for the GRE I'm taking on Monday; and freaking the hell out about Wednesday, when I have a colonoscopy and upper-GI endoscopy scheduled.

And probably feeling sick and sorry for myself for at least part of it. I'm 24. I'm not supposed to need a colonoscopy for at LEAST another lifetime.

And posting twice, apparently. I'm doing great. Yeah. Great.

box: Trip to the piercing place? I think I need to add that to my list.

Yes, three types of cranberries for the Thanksgiving feast: the traditional dangerous cranberry relish (made with citrus and cointreau), a nonalcoholic option (as yet, undecided) and a cranberry with fig (assuming my market has figs, if not, then that option is also undecided).

The squash dip is for me. As a reward. Basically, you roast the squash, scrape the shell, mash the squash with cream, the cheese and salt/pepper. If you're fancy, you serve it in the shell. If not, you don't!

Tomorrow is the first day of a two week vacation. Week one will be spent at my Mom's where we're have a family reunion (and Thanksgiving). Since I like my family and don't get to see them often, this is a good thing. And there will be pie. What's not to like?

Week two will be a road trip featuring the Salton Sea and Death Valley. Mostly for photography and just the general fun of driving around. I love road trips.

Fuzzbean, I had a colonoscopy when I was about 22. It's really not so bad. You get to see video of your squeaky-clean insides. And they give you an amnesiac (I know that's the wrong word, but something like that) drug so you don't remember much of the indignity.

Tonight I am going out for dinner/drinks for a friend's birthday. Tomorrow, I'm going to a crafts show and shopping for a new cell phone. Sometime during the weekend, probably Sunday, I have to go to work for a few hours or more.

Oh, and I should mention the colonoscopy recovery room, as it's really quite amusing. As you may know, for the colonoscopy you are pumped full of air. Afterwards, all of the patients are put in a big room together, where they are encouraged to fart away, thus getting the air out.

Starting vacation today! I've got a wedding to go to tomorrow and then I'm going to try to get some work done on the house for the rest of the time until Wednesday. Then we're driving to Joisy to see the folks and eat too much turkey.

Fuzzbean, I know I said this before, but I had an upper GI endoscopy a couple of weeks ago, (with a colonoscopy scheduled in a week) and it was a piece of cake. You don't remember a thing and your throat will be a little ouchy for an hour or so. Just drink a lot afterwards.

This weekend: Off to the Russian tea room for dinner tonight (Memorial Sloan-Kettering alumni dinner). Tomorrow morning getting up early and off to Philly for the Delaware-Villanova football game (hanging out with mr. g's college friends with whom he has recently reconnected). Sunday a run and writing a statement of my teaching philosophies and goals to go in my job applications.

God, I had a metafilter dream last night. My life has reached an all-time low, I think, if I have so little going on that I have to pick characters off the internet to dream about. Anyway, I was playing table-tennis with mathowie. Nothing much really happened, but he seemed like a nice enough, if over-enthusiastic, sort of guy.

My first ever trip to Berlin! Eeeeeeeeee!

In my 24 hours in the city: I'll be seeing an Interpol concert at Columbiahalle, taking heaps of photos, hitting up a nightclub (probably the apparently-insane-according-to-Wikipedia Berghain, near Ostbanhof), getting some new cheap clothes with my dramatically overvalued Latvian lats, as well as eating, and perhaps sleeping, but probably not. I did book a hostel room just in case I have time for a shower.

I am exactly this excited (ooh-eee, no no no no no.)

Rocky Horror Show Saturday night! And maybe some laundry. And I should buy dress pants since all of mine are now too big (yay!).

Deffo: Zipping over to France on the ferry tomorrow to shop for Christmas, and de paso load up on booze!
Deffo: Feed my baby goddaughters tonight so the parents can get a break (well if I have to be up at 5 what's the point of sleeping??)
Finally see Brick Lane (Film & Curry street) in London Sunday? (Maybe)
(my weekend goes into next week as I'm off work Yippee!!!) so deffo: catching up with some interesting friends I haven't seen in a while.

You don't remember a thing

See, that's what's freaking me out. I have a pretty severe medical phobia specifically centered around lack of control so not being able to remember what happened is pretty scary. I really do like this doctor, at least, but I'm still mad twigged.

Did they let you guys have people in the waiting/recovery area with you?

Recovery. Sofa, blankie, hot tea with honey and lemon. Maybe I can finally shake this fashtunkana cold.

I also have about a million college recommendations to write. Well, a dozen, but still... (I demand bribes. Cash, or maybe a pizza. With pepperoni?)

(good luck, fuzzbean... I really should have a colonoscopy next year myself... no problems, but colon cancer runs in my family... the farting sounds fun... just don't light any matches : )

Yes, my boyfriend at the time was there.

No worries, it's just air.

Also, I think they give you the amnesia drug for your own benefit - most people don't want to remember. Maybe if you share your concerns with your doc, he will consider not giving you that drug.

I just did a really weird gig in Worcester... opening for Da Vinci.

We did well, but the whole night was odd. Like, Rock Opera ODD. I can't put it into proper words, yet.

Imagine the Doors mixed with Dream Theatre with Freddie M on vocals. Campy, but unaware of its own camp. Bombatic and clever, but overly so. OTT.

I can't diss it too much, because I will never have the balls to put on such a self-indulgent spectacle (or, more likely, I'll never have the balls to convince anyone to perform it). I alked away singing something else, in any event. It didn't stick with me.

If you're going to offer your personal vision to the world, make sure it's catchty.

I'll go to my grave never having written my own personal Rock Opera. I'm pretty sure that the world will be a better place without it.

*shrug*

YMMV

I once dreamt that mathowie required a valid real estate license for posting privileges. I think that's the only internet dream I've ever had.

As for the weekend: My Mom is visiting her Mom up in Bellingham, so we'll be going up there tomorrow. That's pretty much an all-day thing.

Sunday is Science Girl's birthday, so we'll be doing whatever she wants and then going out for dinner.

Tomorrow evening, I'm having dinner with a client/friend and his wife, and one of her girl friends, at The River Club. Him, I like, because he has good taste in boats I can't afford. And common sense. And can carry a conversation, or let 15 minutes of sociable silence elapse, over good whisky and a good view.

I've been to dinner with the woman who will be my dinner partner before. She is socially very nervous, and talks immediately, into any conversational lull. Jack and I can probably just drink, order, eat, and pay, and not be missed, in the slightest, as conversationalists. At most, I'll only need to ask 2 or 3 questions, all evening, and nod and look interested the rest of the time.

Jack and I'll go fishing again soon, I'm sure, and evenings like this are the price of him keeping his boat, and us doing that, I guess.

I blew off a free dance lesson at a nearby megachurch to stay home, make split-pea soup and catch up the laundry.

Tomorrow, ten to twelve, I'll help out in an ESL class for folks studying to become US citizens. At three, I go into the shelter to be the "dog whisperer" in the big-dog room, then help walk those big ol' rowdy dogs.

Sunday, church, then Bible class afterward. NFL football on TV, and a good hard speedmarch out in the November chill.

it's a nerd-it-out weekend...

tonight: first perfect score + 500 note streak in guitar hero 3 [done]

tomorrow: teach digital camera seminar, see Beowulf 3D with pops, probably wish i was seeing No Country instead until 3D dead guy is flung at my face

sunday: watch bears lose (or possibly win!), work on stock photo submissions, possibly some religion

throughout: recompile and backup lightroom libraries, install leopard on the FW drive, drink away desire to finish unpacking from July's move, start writing the non-fiction portion of multi-form/medium opus about the Queen of Heaven Cemetery

Okay, now you people are pissing me off. Doc Marten are Doc Martens. Leave them the fuck alone. If you want a boot that can pass amongst the straights, buy a pair of milspec Altamas.

You were right across the street from me, gaspode (I haven't been to RTR since it reopened, but in its previous incarnation, I thought Firebird had the better food)!

Today: Charles Nelson Riley doc--which I would have preferred run the whole three hours of the stage show--gym, synagogue, Ethiopian food. Tomorrow and Sunday: old movies, gym, finishing transferring email from laptop to hard drive, debating whether to go to London in January.

My weekend began yesterday since I took a day off for sewing. I finished a corset for a customer the night before (zebra stripe with neon green PVC trim), and managed to bang out one for myself on Friday (peacock blue/green Chinese silk with a silver and grey cherry blossom motif).

Went to an art opening last night at the local goth club, and won a couple pieces in the raffle. Customer was wearing her corset and said she felt like my business whore since she'd given my name out so many times. Lots of interest now, which is cool. :)

Tonight I'm going to Rochester to see VNV Nation. Wondering if the venue will mind steel toed boots as my ankle is rough after last night and my bad-ankle-boots are my green steel toed docs.

Tomorrow we're going shopping for the turkey and other Thanksgiving needs.

Well, I wasn't going to do much of anything, but there's a casino night tonight to raise funds for the family of a local wee 'un with leukemia (his treatment means they have to stay in town, so can't work and need to pay for accommodation). My uncle & his wife offered to take me, so I'm going! It's one of the few occasions for islanders to dress up (beyond scraping the mud off the gumboots, that is), so it should be fun. Think I'll make an hors d'oeuvre to bring, too. Maybe puff pastry triangles with goat cheese, cream cheese, chopped marinated artichoke hearts and chopped sundried tomatoes. Hmmm... I've also got some curried lamb sausage thawed out, so I guess I could stuff it with that & some seasonings instead. Decisions, decisions.

Apart from that, just sittin' around watching the rain.
