Does Sauna Detox reallly work? It sounds like new age woo woo, but...[More:]
The biggest part of the detox is sweating out toxins. It includes sitting in a sauna five hours a day, seven days a week for six weeks. What came out of his pores shocked him. A jelly-like substance came from his eyes, and black specks came from his chest. All this from a guy used to taking two showers a day.

Is there any way to do this at home, on the cheap? I want to detox!
For exposure to an actual toxin, it depends on where the toxin collects.

For people in general, the body will replace most of that within 24 hours.

My hot water is included in the rent. I throw a towel under the door, turn on the space heater and steam up the bathroom by running the hottest water through the shower head aimed at the wall and leave the shower curtain open.

Sitting in a sauna five hours a day, seven days a week for six weeks is not something you want to do without medical supervision. IANAD, but I do know that much.

True, the property manager would probably get a bit suspicious.

Do the liver cleanse and show us all weird stones you make.

Also, I think it's contraindicated for cardiac patients.

Yeah, but so is liver and onions.

This is the same bullshit as those colon therapy things that talk about colon plaque and pooping out things you ate 20 years ago.

I will never understand wanting to eat an organ that filters toxins. I'm not much for organ meats to begin with, but liver and kidney... no thanks.

I am not a medical doctor, but I'm still going to say this is complete nonsense. It's Utah, and Utah is full of silly things like Mormons, streets wide enough to turn a mule train around in, and the idea that sitting in a sauna will make a black jelly substance come out your eyes.

New age woo woo.

If you go long enough in a sauna, I think it's entirely possible to think weird stuff was coming out of your body.

When people speak of toxins, I always think: "What toxins?" Sure, most of us are probably walking around with low levels of DEHP, and possibly some other garbage, but what toxins? Healthy people are not "toxic". There is no such thing as a detox cleanse.

This reminds me of the Kinoki foot pads. Have you seen this commercial on TV? I saw it the other day. I thought it was a joke at first -- a beginning of a Geico commercial or something.

Tom Cruise would say "yes."

That's my understanding. However a friend of mine who processes film got very sick, all his hair fell out, and he was given some regime to eliminate selenium and he got better pretty much right away. Same with other metals, but in the health food sense, toxins are a meaningless construct. Although placebos do work, and very well.

Boobs || How much scotch should I drink?
