Decriminalization == reduced use. Marked drop in cannabis use by teens as "pinch and scold" rates go up.[More:]Same as with birth control and abortion access: the freer, the less they're needed.

There's something weird about humans: we crave what we are denied.

Rather pathetic, that... and perhaps a telling insight into the law-loving politicians.
What's vexing about this news is that in Britain the media has just gone ga-ga about the horrendous dangers of "skunk." One suspects the truth is that British marijuana was on par with British dining until this recent influx of quality weed. Weed that I'm pretty sure can't be a whole lot different from what any other country has. Yet Britain is in a panic.

Anyhoo, my thoughts were originally running much more toward the recognition that a whole lot of past n years of American political scandal is that many repressive-law-sponsoring creeps have been making it illegal to do that which they crave... because that makes the craving more potent.

Craig didn't want gay sex banned because it would help him stop seeking blow-jobs in men's rooms: he sought to (unconsciously) increase his cravings.

It's legal fetishism. Which is all well and good, except that unlike other fetishes, this one fucks other people over. (Some?) Politicians are damn creeps.

You've got it; illegality is a big part of the allure of drinking, smoking, using drugs, gambling and prostitution. The Dutch, IMVHO, are the only people in the world who understand this.
