Blurry Google Books page. "Working with Sunbrella"

I'm pretty sure the needle size says 90/14. Am I correct? And can someone tell me what the last sentence under "Topstitching" says? Thanks so much. I appreciate it.

It looks to me like 90/24 HJ for the needle size.

That sentence says, "Helps flatten edges close to seam. See #3 on p. 210."

I think 90/14. Under "Stitch Length" at the top, it says 2.5 mm, so we have a "2" in the same typeface for comparison, which does not look like it's in the needle size.

If you compare it to other 2's on the page, mrmoonpie, it looks narrower than any of them. That's why I changed my mind and think it's a one.

Uh well, based on moon's image it looks like 80/24 to me... The nine looks like bleedthrough from something else.

It must be 90/14 because googling needle size 90/14 gets lots of hits for stores selling 90/14-size needles, whereas needle size 90/24 doesn't get any. Hence it's unlikely that 90/24 is actually a valid needle size.

The same applies to 80/24 -- 80/12 is a valid needle size but 80/24 or 80/14 is not. Also, the nine is offset and faded in exactly the same way as the N above, so it's unlikely to be a bleedthrough from anywhere else.

Consider this plate of beans well and truly overthunk.

Yes, I'm pretty sure 90/14 is the size. I haven't heard of 90/24. I wanted to know if it said 80/12 or something else entirely. Thanks all. I'm glad for the overthinking. I'm making cushions from Sunbrella, and I've never worked with this fabric before.

I've never heard of a size 24 needle. I mean, 16 or 18 is a denim needle, and 19 is used for heavy leather. 24 would have to be the size of a drinking straw.

I wouldn't really freak out too much between a 12 or a 14, there's a bit of give there. In a pinch I've substituted 11's for 14s with no ill effects.

I had to dig... there is no 24. Here or in Europe (I didn't realize Europe had different sizes, I figured they were the same since I use German needles and they're sized the same as any others.)

(although there are 24 hand sewing needles, I have some. they're used for tapestry and other super heavy stuff.)
