Worrywort? Usually, I am blisfully oblivious to possible problems. I don't usually think about potential crime, but for some reason, I cannot shake this...
[More:]
At 7:30 AM this morning I went to doctor's office to have blood drawn. I'm pretty certain that the tech was the only person in the office. This worries me because she was pretty vulnerable to somebody going in there and demanding drugs, whatever....

There was nobody else in the waiting area either. Should I mention my concern for her safety when I go back for results? If so, how to bring this up without potentially getting her in trouble. It's unlikely that I will have the opportunity to catch her aside and comment...

I feel I must say something because I'd really hate myself later if something happened and I hadn't. Or, do you think I'm being silly?
The drugs are probably locked up. She couldn't get them if she wanted to, and any smart drug thief surely knows that. Have you ever seen signs up in convenience stores that say they only have $30 in cash and the rest is in a safe that can't be opened by the clerk? Same thing.

They usually don't keep much more than some sample packs of drugs on hand, right? I mean, this is why the pharmacy exists - so that people don't break into doctors' offices and steal drugs. My friend is a receptionist at a clinic, and they don't keep drugs or even cash on site, you have to pay separately from your visit.

Any doctors I know don't have any narcotics on site and my doctor's prescription pads even have "NOT FOR NARCOTICS" printed on them. He calls in narcotic prescriptions.

OK, I feel better. Thanks. You can tell that I never go to the doctor....

Definitely not. She's a woman working alone; I'm sure she's already quite aware of this. In fact they probably described the working conditions in her interview.

It can feel quite paternalistic when someone suggests you should not pursue your desired form of employment for your safety's sake.

Yes, I get it. No problem. I'm female and don't usually think about these things. So, it was unusual for me to be concerned. I guess it was just displaced worry about my health problem!

Heh, I bet. Spalding Gray called that "Anxiety Displacement."

Hope all works out well!
