Do the Hokey Pokey This woman is now doing five years in the luxury digs of the state pen.
Her colleague J.Z. was already sentenced to three and change some months ago. J.Z. was a former tenant of ours, one of these white women/black boyfriend setups.
→[More:]She worked at a real actual job while the boyfriend dealt drugs out of the apartment all day long. Her son would come home from school and he'd lock the boy out, who'd then come over begging us to key him in. One time I did that and the guy pulled a real commotion and then opened the door sweating profusely just as I was ready to turn the key. I decided after that I was lucky he didn't open it with a gun pointed at me.
This woman, J.H., was probably the woman who claimed to be the "babysitter" except she came and went at non-babysitting-type hours.
Anyway, my dad was
sure J.Z. didn't know the bf was dealing. He also didn't realize that it didn't matter that it wasn't the tenant doing the crimes. And when my mom and I leaned on him we finally found out she wasn't even on a lease -- just month to month -- and we could do a 30 days' notice at any time. Well. Took care of that. They moved over to a sprawling, ever-so-slightly seedy apartment complex on the other side of town, and got arrested with a significant quantity of coke in the car about a month later.
Always wondered if it made them more vulnerable to have to re-establish themselves. If so, yay us! Best part was that our address didn't get in the paper.
