Cheap DVD Player, Good Flick My old cheapshit fuzzy warbler crapped out on me, so I bought (and hacked) a new one today at Morrisons for £24.99 (call me a freak, but I like the fact that the tax is included here). →[More:] I hied me to ye olde video shoppe because there's a postal strike here, so no lovefilm.

Lo and behold, Fincher's latest is on DVD. Zodiac. Is. Fucking. Epic.

I *love* the way digital looks. Caché Birth and Collateral are also shot using high-end digital rigs, and they both looked incredible.

I haven't seen Inland Empire yet. Have you?

Yes, and I loved it. I'd only recommend it if you REALLY like Lynch, though.

I want to see Zodiac. That case has always intrigued me/freaked me out.

I love Lynch... and I like his new model (shooting, almost radiohead-style, with no backing; no real script, no studio; no executive producers, etc). Digital will change Hollywood.

hrm. I am a Lynch fan, and mr. gaspode LOVES him, and we both thought that Inland Empire was ass. (I admit, I was surprised that mr. g didn't like it.)

Zodiac is absolutely wonderful.

Zodiac is a great flick but if you haven't seen it or are thinking about buying it, you might want to wait until January as there's a director's cut coming out.

I loved Inland Empire. There are some scenes that have what appear to be genuine low light conditions that I don't think can be captured with conventional film. Lynch is all about light, so it was great to see something that allowed him to expand his palette.

You're probably alright paying 25 bob for a DVD player. I paid about $30 USD here and it's been going strong for several years now.

These were shot digitally? I guess I'm way out of the loop, since I thought the latest Superman was the only one so far. Nice. Film has gelatin (from animal hide) in it, so people like me are happy about dig.
