Sometimes... Sometimes I hate my job, and sometimes I love it.[More:]Right now, I love it, because we just had a little office party for some folks that have been here 20 years, and they served margaritas. Woo! Tipsy at work!
Me too! Right now I'm exactly in between the two poles, but inching ever so slowly towards the 'hating it' end. Probably because it's 5:40 pm, and I still have at least two hours to go...

Wistfully dreaming of margaritas.

Well it's obvious that you are not a public employee.

*cries*

We had some sort of snacks and beer social thing at work today but I didn't have time to go. I don't think that anyone in my group went either. Our company always seems to have low attendance at such things, it's tough pry geeks out of our offices.

I'm a public employee and about 30% of the storage in our photocopier room is taken up by boxes of various drinks (alcoholic and otherwise) and snacks that are stored for the regular Friday night drinks, the profits from which go towards a drunken "unofficial" Christmas party that is held each year. We have the official function with the bosses and speeches etc that we all have to attend, but those who like to have fun have another one a week or so later in the office. Last year, just one of the results of that was that I ended up with my hand plunged into a bucket of ice for over an hour to prove I was more manly than one of my co-workers (this was the final round, after everyone else was eliminated). Eventually, the others physically ripped us away from the bucket because they were sick of us sitting on the floor in front of the bucket of booze getting in their way of accessing drinks. It took almost a month for all the feeling to come back in my hand. Boys will be boys ...

Sometimes I love my job too.

I'm a little scared of what's going to happen at work tomorrow. Not that it matters much one way or the other.

Cheers, anyway!

Brrr dg! I'm already cold - that made me colder. I like my jobs, mostly. They keep me entertained enough not to get bored, and I make my own schedule, so even if it goes squirrely it's still not as bad as some else causing the stress. Right now I'm working pretty regularly with some cool cats who spring for the occasional late afternoon beer or wine.

Actually, it wasn't cold after the first 15 minutes or so, because I was numb. There was no way I was going to let some smart-arse 27 year-old beat me, though (the first one to pull their hand out of the ice lost) and he was equally stubborn. We ended up declaring the manliness contest a draw after we were pulled out.

I am not a public employee. (In fact, I often am adverse to public employees, but that's another issue.) I billed 320 hours in August. I was not loving my job at that point.

New Photo Friday themes? || Neat (and kind of creepy) idea for pinhole photography.
