What Did OJ Do, Again? Aside from murdering his wife and her boyfriend. Armed robbery? Kidnapping? →[More:]
There's a lot of fluffy bits and not much data. What is alleged to have happened in Nevada?
1) Following the murder trial, Mike Gilbert, OJ's old licensing agent, acquired OJ's suit and a few other effects and consigned the goods to Alfred Beardsley and Bruce Fromong, who trade in sporting memorabilia.
2) Beardsley & Fromong tried to sell the items on eBay, without success.
3) OJ, claiming the items were stolen from him, went after Beardsley & Fromong, instead of directly confronting Gilbert.
4) Following the arrest, Gilbert appeared on Anderson Cooper's show, where he stated the sale of the goods was less than auspicious; it seemed to be part of a scheme to generate cash beyond the knowledge of the IRS and the Goldman family.
5) Shortly after Gilbert's interview, Beardsley expressed "sympathy" toward the Goldman family, and stated he wasn't interested in filing charges against OJ, and would rather forget about the incident. Fromong, however, hasn't relented.
Regarding Beardsley, entering Nevada broke his California parole (for stalking a woman), and he's now back in a jail cell. Fromong had a heart attack and is in hospital.
Riccio is an ex-convict, and many believe that he conned OJ into invading the room, though I have yet to read what Riccio's motivation could have been. Two of the men involved supposedly overheard OJ while at the central casino bar at Palms, they came over and offered their assistance.
George Maloof, owner of Palms, is more than a bit perturbed that OJ pulled crap like that in town while staying at his hotel. The Palace Station is renaming the scene of the crime "The OJ Simpson Suite".
