Good thoughts, please, bunnies. [More:]Bleh. A new suspicious lump that's definitely not a cyst requires a round of new tests this week and next, including biopsy. The radiologist who looked at my mammogram/ultrasound says it's about 70-80% likely to be benign, but obviously we still have to make sure. I've been through the cancer thing before (though that was thryoid), so it's not like this is totally new territory or anything, but obviously I'd just rather not have cancer again.

God, and work is just crazy, too -- I have three books in production (including two on deadline), a new freelance project, and I never even took a vacation this summer. I would really prefer just to go sit on a beach in New Zealand for awhile.

Anyway, all good vibes will be appreciated. Thanks.
Thinking the absolute best positive thoughts I can for you, scody.

You'll keep us updated, right?

Oh my goodness. I have a knot in my stomach reading that. Feels so scary... The unknown is terrible.

Just know that the best thoughts and good vibes are going your way.

*hugs scody tightly* (and tries to make it all go away.)

*hugs* and good thoughts. I'll be sending positive vibes your way.

Christ. Good luck. The good news is that, when they say something's really likely to be benign, they mean it.

Thinking of you.
Mojo machine set to overdrive, scody.

*massages luck*

And that beach idea sounds pretty nice.

Sending the best and strongest thoughts I have, and will continue to do so.

And scody, only you could make me laugh (with this: but obviously I'd just rather not have cancer again) at such a moment.

You strike me as someone who can cope with anything, and I mean anything. Here's hoping you don't have occasion to show that coping ability for a long long time.

Aw, thanks everyone. 'pode, I'll definitely keep everyone updated. First prodcedure is tomorrow, possibly followed by blood tests after that; biopsy is next Thursday. If the pathology lab works fast, perhaps I'll know something on Friday, but it's probably more realistic to expect the results early the following week, so maybe around the 13th. Luckily I am not superstitious about the number 13. (But don't get me started about 14.)

Elsa, thanks too for the vote of confidence in my coping skills. I read somewhere a few years ago something along the lines of adopting a mantra of "anything human can happen to me; I will simply do my best to handle it." So it seems to have helped!

I say we all make plans for a vast bunnygathering in New Zealand one of these days!

I've been through this myself, a year ago, so I know the worry of it. You can always email me if you have any questions about what's involved.

Scody, I had a tumor removed in April that turned out benign. A lot of people prayed for me, sent healing energy, etc. I truly believe it helped, and now I'm bundling up all the bits of goodness that were sent to me and passing them on to you. So here's some healing energy from the fierce old Egyptian man who owns the coffeeshop who still offered to pray for this little Jewish girl. Here's some good vibes from the meditation circle somewhere in Texas who didn't even know me. Here's my whole synagogye praying at services. Here's my friend who said he didn't know who to pray to for me, so he just prayed to himself. I'm sending all that good stuff to you along with my own prayers.

oy, my dearest scody! I am sending you my very very bestest wishes. I think it is quite common to have those lumps. They found one in me last October and we still happily coexist, as we deemed that surgery was not necessary. On the bright side the person who will do the biopsy will be able to tell quite confidently what it is. Dontcha worry. And definitely keep us updated.

*on preview: I guess it is very common. heh.

gah, I should proof read before posting: "...quite confidently immediately what it is."

Such wisdom. Thanks for an example of grace personified. You're tough! Here's wishing that this hand is an easy one. Try to relax a little despite the work craziness -- that deadline stress makes everything feel so much heavier. Get the Mr. to take you on a post-work getaway for an evening sometime soon. That can work wonders.

I've got this nonsense going on in my own life Scody, with multiple loved ones on the hook one way or another waiting to hear what they have to do. I'm doing my damndest to blast out good health and toughness and just like my people you have that in spades. All of my heart and souls wishes to you darlin', ain't nothing in this world can't be overcome and brushed aside and knocked down. So much love to you.

One day I'm going to send us all to New Zealand and I'm not fucking kidding even a little bit.

Let me be among the last to give you all my wishes and hopes and a big California bear hug from 200 miles up the coast, although with the terrible track record of my psychic vibes maybe I should take a contrary position just to protect you. Anyway, if the waiting and uncertainty are the worst part (and from my experience they are), it's good that you are going to be so busy the next couple weeks, so start planning that New Zealand trip for after you're through with this minor detour and Get Weller Soon! (I'm not sure what I meant by that)

I hope everything went well today. All my best wishes to you, and prayers too, for a happy outcome. Please keep us informed! (((((scody)))))

Thank you, one and all. I'm feeling much loved, and will go over to Cedars for the first procedure in a couple of hours with a spring in my step. Behold the power of bunnies!
posted by scody 31 July | 12:52
Update: Nothing conclusive from yesterday's procedure (which was moderately unpleasant, but better than a kick in the teeth, as my grandmother would have said), so it's on to the biopsy next week as planned. Thanks again for all the good wishes - it's been a help! I'll post more next week.
