Ask MeCha: I need some project advice... So, I'm trying to figure out what my next comic project's going to be, and I can't decide between two ideas. I'm really excited for both, so the standard (and sound) advice to work on the one that excites me more comes out as a wash. [More:]

Idea 1 is an ongoing fictional comic based on my years in go-nowhere (but fun) Minneapolis bands. It'd be shooting for about the same humor/drama mix as, say, the TV show Freaks and Geeks. I have mountains of material for this one.

Idea 2 is an ongoing nonfictional thing about space science. Each installation would be a 1-2 page primer on some topic (ferinstance, I've written a script for a first one, about how new planets are detected outside of the solar system), aimed at people who're intelligent and curious but just haven't gotten around to reading much science. The guiding light here would be Larry Gonick's Cartoon History of the Universe books, except, well, not about history.

So my question for the MeCha public is this: which of those looks more interesting to you? Which, if you stumbled across while randomly surfing, would you be more inclined to read?

Thanks for any thoughts...
ahh, shit, I meant to more-inside some of it. Sorry.

I like science.

Do I get to make fun of you for not using the more inside button?
On preview: nevermind.

I would definitely stop to read the space one.

I'm a huge fan of stuff like Clan Apis and Two-Fisted Science, so I'd lean that way. I also love slice-of-life stuff too, though, as long as it's deep rather than broad in scope.

I'd go for the Freaks and Geeks type thing.

Thanks for the feedback. I pencilled out a page of the space-science one last night, and it looks like it could be pretty cool. So it looks like that's the way I'll be going, with the band-experience one continuing to marinate in my head....
