Am I nuts, or is there a reason the thing I describe inside doesn't exist? Please come inside for my description, and tell me why it doesn't exist, or where I can find it. Please.
→[More:]What I would like is a device that can put a menu up on my TV, and allow me to either browse to videos (likely either xvid, or divx, but maybe DVD files too) that exist on my home network, then play them.
I currently have a dvd player that can play files, but that means I have to burn them to DVD, and hope that there aren't too many major codec changes. Now, this is WAY better than having to convert to VCD to burn, and also better than watching these files at my PC.
BUT...I don't need some fancy-assed wireless media center, just a network interface with some video hardware that can hopefully handle codec upgrades.
Anyone? Anyone ever seen such a thing? I have looked, but it seems all such devices have to have a hard disk, or some crazy assed media interface. Simple I want. SIMPLE!
