My laptop is the economy model from the introductory line of Toshiba Satellites. [More:]

So, it's pretty old. I have had to replace only two components, both due to wear: the hard drive and the fan. Now, my headphone amp is going.

Otherwise, this thing has stood up quite well.
I like Toshiba.

My first laptop was a Toshiba. There was nothing like it at the time--folks would see me in the library using it and stop to ask what it even was.

My Toshiba took a complete shit-kicking and kept on ticking well beyond reason. I'd buy another in a heartbeat (but would install Ubuntu or FreeBSD, not Windows. Death to Windows.)

Friends with Compaq and HP regretted their purchasing decisions.

My iBook took a fairly good shit-kicking, too. I'm quite impressed with its durability.

Oh, wow, a T1000! I had one of those when I worked at the NRC. I don't think that computer ever did more than an hour of actual government work, but it did do more than 4 years of heavy BBSing.
