Also, some of her combinations seem a bit odd. Pasta with creamy tomato-basil sauce and cheddar flowers? Why would someone who takes so much time and care in the presentation of the food use a cheese that, while nice, is so clearly NOT the right choice?

Somefigs and proscuitto, some cheese and bread and honey all pluck fresh from the wondergarden where there are plants that make brie, and carrots grow in flower shapes.
You can get bento boxes lots of places, all hello kitty or whatever.
dersins, not that cheddar is the right or wrong choice with that, but have you never made spaghetti casserole? also known in ohio as a 'johnny marzetti'. aka leftover pasta in red sauce, covered in grated cheddar and baked until bubbly.
