Whin(g)eFilter - I'm Melting! [More:]It is 100F/38C in my backyard in the shade. Holy Mary mother of God, this is the Pacific Northwest! I thought I left this kind of heat in Texas. *whimper*

The mister wants us to have a wet t-shirt contest. I win!
It was a 106 here yesterday. I feel your pain.

Can I be in the contest too?

It's been hot as heck in NYC for the past couple days, too, but we just got some rain a few minutes ago, which should cool things out some.

Sometimes it gets hotter after it rains.

Yeah, rocking 100F here for the second day in a row is why I hate summer.

Some lady in the elevator at work yesterday was all, "isn't this weather great? It's just fantastic out, isn't it?!" And I tried to explain gamely that I'm one of those people who misses the rain when it gets to be like this, and she just sort of stared at me disapprovingly. Fuckin' summer.

It's in the upper 90s here. My Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder is in full bloom at the moment. If I could hibernate between the end of May and the first of October, I gladly would do so. It’s not the heat so much as it is the light; going out in the bright sunshine feels like nothing so much as the time I got jumped by three guys and beaten in the head. It’s a physical assault.

I moved here to Seattle to get away from the sun, and for the most part it’s worked. What I didn’t take into account was the fact that in the summer, the sun rises around 5 AM, and doesn’t set until after nine, which means it doesn’t get dark until sometime around 10:00. That’s a lot of sunlight. I’m usually not in bed until 2 AM, so that gives me three whole hours of darkness in which to cram my quality sleep.

And now, just to make myself feel better, here is a picture of a dog in the snow.

The compressor on our AC died last night (in a house that we are trying to sell). Fortunately it rained and cooled down today but now I'm going to have to find someone to fix it. Grr.

The mister got home from work and whisked me away to an air-conditioned restaurant for heat-relief. He's such an awesome guy.

Also, it's supposed to be about 30C/86F tomorrow and gradually cooler the rest of the week. *crosses fingers*

You're in the valley, aren't you deborah? I'm in Vancouver (by the PNE) and it's hot here, and hotter there by about 6 or 7 degrees. So, yeah, empathy. Time for another cold one. :)

Yep, Abbotsford to be be exact, Zack (hee!). We used to live about five miles from White Rock (in South Surrey). I miss that breeze (and the a/c in the RV).
posted by deborah 11 July | 22:24
Yeah, there's a/c at work, which actually makes walking outside so much worse. Better than no a/c, I suppose.
(oog. Abbotsford. it got 2 degrees hotter here just thinking about that.)

It's still cold in England. Dull today too, very little natural light penetrating the thick cloud cover. This morning to work I wore jeans, boots, thick socks, T-shirt, sweatshirt and a light rainproof jacket.
