I am now a home-owner. [More:]

I honestly expected something to go wrong, so I've kept my mouth shut for the past month. It all went through, finally. Anyway, I now own a home. Spent the last seven hours tearing up carpet. Gonna go crash now.
Congratulations!

And I see you're already familiar with the joys of owning a home. Get used to it. :)

Congrats and welcome to the club! Tomorrow's project: seven hours tearing your hair out at the Home Depot.

Congratulations! I feel sorry for you already.

A friend of mine recently coined a new word: "congratulaha". It's when you're really happy someone got what they wanted, but you're also completely unable to stop from laughing at their naivete for wanting the thing in the first place, because they're in for a world of hurt.

So, as a fellow homeowner: congratulaha!

Also, this thread is useless without pictures.

Also, this new home is useless without a cat.

Spent the last seven hours tearing up carpet

I read that as "Spent the last seven MONTHS tearing up carpet." which gives you a pretty good idea of the pace of home improvement in this home.

Thankyouohno people!

No cat for my home, sorry. Allergic!

Pics will be forthcoming once Flickr digests the huge upload queue I'm giving it.

New Home! Congratulations, without any of the "Ha!" (I'm a lifelong renter, so I know not the pains of ownership.)

In my mind, I'm bringing you a potted plant as a housewarming gift. Don't overwater it!

Congrats! Just remember: you'll never, ever be "done," so don't stress. At least there are no deadlines.

wooyay! pix! But I'm getting confuzzled... does this house have three or more apartments? Or am I also see pix from other places you were looking at?

Anyway, it looks great. Is this where we rub the lotion on our skin?

WOW! Looks like a HUGE project with some serious potential. I like all the catholic remnants throughout the house. Were the previous home owners 90?

Super duper! Congrats.
I’m presently w/out the homeowner duty, but am helping my nephew with his first home – which is a fixer-upper. It’s really quite fun, being able to make all those decisions and change it to suit your desires. That part really beats being a renter. Best wishes.

Course, the best comment came from my nephew as we were installing new kitchen cabinets… (little 5’-3 me as helper!) We were taking that much needed break, and he looked over at me and said, “Just think, all the fun of home ownership without the bills.”

err,
meaning that I had all the fun without the bills - cause he was paying for it all...

well, should get back to employment now...

The previous homeowners are old Lebanese Catholics. The old man has already stopped by once. I have the feeling I'm going to have to shoo him away on a regular basis.

Congradulamations, sciurus! We've been in our new place *counts on fingers* eight months and have yet to start the redecorating we want to do.
