25 June 2007

Three point weather update [More:]1. It has rained so much in the UK that large parts of it are underwater.

2. It's still raining RIGHT NOW.

3. In typical British fashion, everyone is blaming a phenomenon which is completely unrelated to meteorology: Glastonbury.
1. so
2. fucking
3. hot

1. Fire season: we've only had, like, 2% of the normal amount of rain this year or something
2. Breezy, pleasantly warm. No humidity.
3. High 70s°F/20s°C for the rest of the week.

2. We did finally get some much needed rain over the weekend, though.
3. Supposedly there will be more rain. YAY!

1. Hot and Humid
2. Then Scary thunderstorms
3. Then 5-and-a-half hours with no electricity, which meant no AC or fans, it was hot as HELL inside the house even with the windows open, and I was sure all the food in our fridge was going to spoil.

3.5. Power FINALLY came back on, so at least we'll be able to sleep comfortably tonight. The food in the fridge is okay, and hey, we ate out on a weeknight (which we never do) and met a few neighbors we didn't know before, so overall life is good.

hot and stinky, with a side of holy shit humid.
plus we're trying to sell our house so everything is all fake clean and de-cluttered and we've taken the kids to grandma's house to swim the last 5 days in a row so they don't wreck everything and they're bored as hell.
it's all quite stressful, really.
2 more days of school! ugh.

I like this UK weather. It's not drizzling all day, just brief downpours, which keeps the temperature, pollen and pollution down.

My brother couldn't get home yesterday. I hope to god his flat hasn't been flooded.
It's been raining here solidly (Up until last night at least), but we're close enough to Manchester for that to be deemed normal.
I like the rain when I'm not in it.

BeePee! It's all explained then. I had a flight today from NY through Atlanta. It was supposed to leave at 7pm and it left at 10:30. They kept delaying and delaying due to the "weather in Atlanta" but nobody gave more information. We even had to take another, longer air traffic route because of the Atlanta weather. Everyone on the plane was joking about it but I see now it was some serious shit. Thankfully the connection flight was delayed too and now I am safe in my hotel (which is somewhere I have no clue about, even though I drove here). Also no food. :(

Bad bad bad Atlanta weather.

I've got three words for you: Monsoon, Monsoon, and Monsoon.
posted by hadjiboy 26 June | 06:16
Yeah, carmina, it was pretty rough, and seemed to take all the weather folks by surprise. All our trees are weakened by the drought, so this big storm just snapped many of them right in half (i.e., they didn't fall, they BROKE). It was also very loud with the booming thunder, had some sideways rain, the whole thing. Yeesh.
