Crocs with socks? [More:]Washington Post commentary (registration)
From article:
Bush's decision to wear black socks with his Crocs was ill-considered. The combination makes one think of an old man on his way to the beach.

Crocs now rival flip-flops as the most annoyingly omnipresent style of summer footwear.

If there is one person in the United States who should have a paid staff member who tells him/her what to wear in public, it is the president.

Seriously.

It doesn't help that the man already looks like Elmer Fudd. But there is something to be said for looking, you know, presentable, even if you've gotten nothing to speak of between your ears.

My father loves crocs. Has several pairs, including a few that are half topsider, half croc. I must say, they seem to suit his style well. When it comes down to it, I just can't hate on comfortable shoes. They are my fashion weakness.

And... I'm possibly about to get some, of one type or another. Hopefully sandals. After reading in Askme all about how TOTALLY COMFORTABLE they are, even for walking a lot alot, I looked 'em up, found the Athens address (Ermou St., OF COURSE), and I'm going to go see what's what.

I've been walking so much (until the BIG HEAT), that my blisters have blisters, and I'm talking about weird places, like the ball of my foot - plain old walking blisters, not chafing shoe blisters, from wearing ordinary flats, simple sandals, no real cutesy things, no heels, nothing Paris Hilton WHATSOEVER.

I'm just trying to avoid the earth shoe thing, if possible. They're just NOT ME.

Yes, I felt like making A LOT OF CAPITALS in this comment. It's HOT. My mind is MELTING VERY MUCH.

I wonder what the logo on his socks is. Could it be the Great Seal of the POTUS? If so, that's so dope.

I wanna be president, look at all the swag you get.

I was kind of annoyed at his policies, and the arrogance and total disregard for the constitution and basic civil law of his administration, but now that he's made a fashion faux pas I AM READY TO MARCH IN THE STREETS

Capn, just make sure you have appropriate footwear when you go to march.

Finally.

All that marching in the gutter was getting tiresome.

Also, I wasn't that fond of the slogan, "All of us are marching in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the tzars."

I actually have a pair, taz- well, a cheap pair from Target. Bought them in MA for a kayak trip; was secretly happy to have the excuse. They are quite comfortable (and pink, weee). I still can't bring myself to wear them around the city, though- I've earmarked them for beach trips, dog walks, etc.

I showed my father the article, and he said (via AIM): "I think they've taken BushBashing a step too far! I have to come to his defense on this one!! Why wouldn't you wear sox when exercising---sweat and chaffing problems shortcutted"

Surely this...

I hate to support Bush in any way, shape or form, but those are some swell socks. Full disclosure: I have a pair of Croc replicants (like Crocs but better) and I wear them all the time. Sometimes with skirts. They're totally comfortable and my new pair have this photo print of big waterdroplets on a bluish blackish background.

Thou shalt not stop wearing comfortable footwear just because they become popular.

I want a pair (or two) very, very muchly. I'm not supposed to wear open toed anything (diabetes - you suck!) any more but need light comfy shoes, that breathe, for summer. I just need to find out where in Canada I can get them.

White socks with black crocs would be much, much worse.

I covet the limited edition wedges.
