Quitters' report. How are you holding up? [More:] I've been caffeine-free for over a month now. It's hard on those mornings when my brain is sludge, but I think I'm slimmer without a steady diet of Mountain Spew. And I even get to sleep before 2AM occasionally!

Your turn!
I had some cigarettes a few weeks ago, and it developed into a cough that has not gone away. I'm on a cough medication right now that tastes like ass because I foolishly thought that adding a chocolate taste would make it taste better. WRONG!

The fact that I'm on blood pressure meds now is definitely going to help me quit smoking because I don't want to die of a heart attack.

Smoke free since February 10, 2006.

I think about having a cigarette about 27 times a day. Thanks for asking.

My last cigarette was at Easter. I'm doing much better than paulsc though, only very occasional cravings now.

My last regular cigarette was Nov. 1, 2006. Then I bummed one from someone back in April, and oh my god, it did not just taste like ass, it tasted like fulminating cream of ass on toast points, and also made me nauseated. The memory of which provides excellent reinforcement for my absolute conviction that I shall never up smoking again, I can tell you that.

Never TAKE up smoking again, that is. Gah.

Day 30 of quitting smoking. Five days of 1 cigarette, due to living in a house with cigarettes and finding myself sometimes blind wasted in said house, and hey! A cigarette! Still champing on the nic gum.

Go TrishaLynn! I'm glad you got some medicine.

I'll take this opportunity to really really thank richat and mike9322 for their online sponsorship. And to apologize for rudely crashing IRC one night hyperspastic and taking over about DON'T LET ME SMOKE and boringpostcards for calling me and talking me down. That was funny. For me and boringpostcards. Not for IRC peopole or people in my house, who all had to witness my crazy.

Thanks for providing this forum, Eideteker.

Oh, I forgot to add that with the whole blood pressure thing, I'm also cutting out sodas and my daily cup of coffee. This is really killing me at the office, especially towards the end of the day.

paulsc: I don't know if it's comforting, but my mother gave up smoking in 1986 and not a day goes by still that she doesn't want a cigarette, like 27 times a day. Anyway, I say just because she hasn't smoked in 20 years, despite really really wanting to. So I'm sure you can do it; it just becomes more background noise in your life.

It'll be one year come July. (Cigarettes, that is. All my other vices are intact.)

It's been since Nov 19, 2006 for me. Some days it shocks me that I've gone six months, and there are often entire days when I don't think about smoking.

When I'm partying, in order to keep myself from the drunken smoking, I will bring a cigarillo, one of those cognac-dipped ones. You don't inhale them, so I'll puff and chomp on it a bit and maybe share it with someone special. About halfway through it I'll feel all icky and throw it away.

I had a mini-setback a few months ago where I was at a birthday party and I drunkenly puffed (not inhaled) a cigarette. That was dumb, but I felt like ass the next day. Overall, I don't feel that itchy paranoid "oh no what if I smoke" feeling anymore, especially since I'm doing contract work for the summer and I literally can't afford to smoke.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD JOB TO ALL THE QUITTERS!

Hey, I'm thinking about you guys, wondering how it's going ALL THE TIME. Please feel free to burden me with your craving-induced insanity at any time. I lost three relatives (all smokers) to cancer in three years. Close ones. Let's keep the bunny-family we have here alive and well.
