Lit Filter. For the past couple days, I've been rereading Tim Sandlin's Gro Vont Trilogy, three books covering the misadventures of a roaringly dysfunctional extended family in Wyoming over a span of 30 years. [More:] Sandlin's an author I love, but I don't think I've ever met another fan, which is strange since the cat can write. He has a wonderfully twisted sense of humor, and is the only male author I've ever encountered who can write convincingly in a femal voice. I also found out today that he's working on a fourth volume in the Gro Vont saga and is inviting readers to pick the title.

Any other Sandlin buffs around? Any similar midlist author favorites that you think deserve bigger fame?
I'm a big Sandlin fan. Interestingly enough, I read the third book in the series first, not knowing it even was a series.

His other books are good, as well, although I've not read the latest one (Jimi Hendrix Turns 80) yet.

For some reason he occupies the same space in my head as Tibor Fischer, even though the two are entirely different in style and and theme.

How many times have you called 911 (or equivalent - emergency#)? || The greatest opening scene from a movie, ever.
