"My dog ate it..." And an idea for a website... →[More:]

...Inviting people everywhere to post pictures of their pkgs that UPS (and FedEx?) has utterly destroyed.

UPS is on a tear lately, playing football with packages. Sometimes I'm getting three returns a week. Other people have told me the same. It's like the scene from that Jim Carey film. I think they do it on purpose. Good idea? How do I get submissions?

I have one right now that I haven't photo'd yet. It's a large flat pkg with a big "DO NOT BEND" sticker on it. It was returned because it's ridiculously bent, of course.

If people could post damaged packages from any mailing service -- USPS, DHL, etc., you might widen your audience.

Is it supposed to be funny? Would it be LOLMail? Or more of a serious attack on delivery services, in a Consumerist way?

Both! People are always pissed off and amazed at UPS, so there's an obvious draw, as they'd love to bitch online. Some packages are destroyed in ways you can't imagine and many are just funny (or at least shake-your-head) material.

You're absolutely right, all mail services should be included.

I thought you were going to suggest a website for photos of things eaten by dogs.

I was thinking the same thing, occhiblu. A friend of mine had a meatspace version of this - everything the house dog chewed up would get clear-bagged and tacked up on the kitchen wall. A monopoly game, a spatula, albums, etc. It was really fun to look at and watch grow as the weeks went by.

That's funny, but I'd really like to see just the evidence, no doggies. Gives the violence of the act more weight and horror (actually in this case it'd be humor), sorta like the movie Seven.
