"A touch of the Tommy-two-ways about Ted" In today's Telegraph gossip column ("Spy") Gyles Brandreth uses "walked with a squeak" as a euphemism for being gay.[More:]

Has anyone ever heard this before? And could there be a more absurd euphemism!?

On the topic of euphemisms, a gem from xkcd.
Er, "more inside" needed! Admin plz hope me!

I have heard that before but I can't remember the context. I imagine it was in a movie but wouldn't bet money on that.

Cockney slang, perhaps. Tommy-two-way -> gay.

Indeed, but what possible explanation could there be for "walked with a squeak"?

I've heard of "light in the loafers" but not squeaky walking. Maybe he just favors corduroys? Them's squeaky pantaloons!
