Sand Creek Massacre [More:]On November 29, 1864 approximately 150 to 200 members of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes (mostly women, children and old people) were killed by 800 U.S. soldiers.

The area that the massacre occurred in was designated a National Historic Site by the National Park Service yesterday.

A ranch owner named Bowen states most of the Indian camps were on his property. He also says that most of the battle happened there as well. He and his wife have their own site offering tours. It would be interesting to know what the NPS and the Indian tribes say about him.
So very sad wherever the site might be.
