27 April 2007

Yay! It's Friday! What are your plans for the weekend?[More:]I'm on holiday until 8 May. But ... I absolutely MUST decorate this computer room as I have a guest coming to stay at the end of May.

Looking at the junk in here, it seems almost overwhelming, but I need to break it down into manageable tasks.

- go through all the books and be ruthless in sorting the ones to go to Oxfam. Box up the rest.

- take that old Windows ME computer with the 19" CRT monitor down to the dump and leave it in the place where people can sort through the 'good' stuff. I will never use it again, someone else might be able to salvage it. The hard drive is clean, so if someone else can get the thing up and running, they can have it.

- the biggest thing will be moving this computer desk either into the middle of the room so I can paint the walls round it or into the hall. I have a hutch on this desk and all the recesses are full of bits and pieces, as well as a tower containing a hundred or so CDs.

- I'll have to cut away the old carpet from the wall or, if I can empty this room out totally, roll the carpet up and take it down the dump. It's vile - a 70s mustard nylon nightmare. It will be replaced by a nice wood-effect floor (it's concrete floor underneath, not boards, sadly. Damn you, 60s builders!)

- once I start, provided I do each task at a time, it won't be overwhelming and it'll be great when it's finished. Pictures will be taken.
Oh, and when I finished work today there was not one single thing outstanding in either my task list or my cabinet. Yay!

Still recovering from a sinus infection with laryngitus, so I'm taking it easy. That said, I hope to accomplish some of the following:

- bake bread
- get to the library to pick up a stack of books
- plan my mother's birthday party for next weekend
- walk down to the art supply store to buy some treats
- catch up on my physical therapy exercises
- clean the bathroom properly

Your weekend sounds far more ambitious, and far more fun! Enjoy!

Lookit you and your mad productivity! Well done.

I'll hopefully be working this weekend. We've got a big project ahead and it starts with powerwashing a house and several outbuildings, so that can happen even if it's raining. Times have been lean over here in my island paradise, so it'll be good to have a solid stretch of work. Hopefully. Especially since the last person I worked for can't afford to pay me yet. *sigh*

That means that today I should do a mad tidy-up in the cabin and make some bread (my sourdough starter's ready! yaaaaay!), though whether or not that'll happen is another matter entirely. We'll see. Right now I'll be happy if I can get it above the meat-locker temp it's at now. Burn, fire! Burn harder!

Sat: wake up early and go for a nice long run, spend the rest of the day watching film noir on my couch.

Sun: write a bookreview that I had due in November (shit, shit, shit), pottery.

Tonight: possibly going to yoga. Definitely watching last night's "Survivor" (I think I'm the only person left on the planet who still watches, which is a shame, because last week's tribal council was The!Best!Ever!).

Saturday: start a new (thankfully short) freelance project while on a lull within the larger Freelance Project That Wouldn't Die. Then getting together with my best friend for our every-other-Saturday girl's night out.

Sunday: filming a scene for my boyfriend's friend's short film. I haven't seen the script yet, so I don't even know what my role is or how many lines I have.

Hope the move goes well, smich!

Saturday: Take the girl to a birthday party at some gymnastics place.

Sunday: Friends coming over to "see the baby." (I'm so tired of visitors, I may just prop him in the window and let people drive by.)

Another birthday party.

Hosting our weekly Sopranos party.

I have a take-home final to write, and a dead project horse to zombie-fy so I can show my professor on Monday that I at least tried to do something when my project partner dropped out for the semester, and than I'll be over here in the corner sobbing about the other final exam I just bombed. Stupid random variables.

Yeah, I had a boyfriend like that once too. Honestly, I only did it because it was required for the artistic integrity of the scene, not for, you know, titillation or anything ...

Tonight: off to see Sister Nancy and Sister Carol. When Nancy does 'Bam Bam' I plan to hoot with joy! (Might also see Yellow Swans, Evan Parker and C. Spencer Yeah if they're on stage early enough for me to leave in time to make the two Sisters...)

Tomorrow: work in the morning - looking at an exhibition about the history of design and architecture to do with air travel - then in the afternoon/evening, going to see The Pastels, Electrelane, Tenniscoats, The Royal We and a couple of other bands.

Sunday: going to see elderly No Wave god James Chance. Cannot fucking wait for this!

Tonight: I have 3 NZers in town, and another one coming in from Jersey for the evening. Beer will be drunk.

Tomorrow: Get to the pub at 9.30 to get our seats for the cricket world cup final (Aus. vs. Sri Lanka). If any NY bunnies wanna learn about cricket from a bunch of loud kiwis and one south african, we will be at Baker Street, 63rd & 1st, all day.

Tomorrow night: BBQ at Jersey friend's place.

Sunday: recovery. Lazing around and maybe a trip to the Met or somewhere for the visitors. Late afternoon will go for my first post-surgery run.

Planning to spend tomorrow cleaning off our deck and working on our camper, which has developed a leak over the winter. (Going camping next month- yay!)

Sunday: maybe catch a movie, more likely hang around like bums, possibly with a walk around the neighborhood (camera in tow) thrown in there somewhere. :)

got the script for my big movie scene on Sunday. I get one line -- the eminently quotable "excuse me?" -- and then I look shocked as someone jumps off a pier.

I am thinking very carefully about my motivation and backstory.

LoriFLA, we saw Hot Fuzz a week ago, and loved it.

Saturday - trip to PetsMart is all that's scheduled. Maybe some yard work if the fucking rain would ever go away. More LotRO.

Sunday - Not a clue except more LotRO.

Movie glut. Gym. Letting the lawyer know that she needs to correct the letter she sent to the contractor's lawyer. Trying to get through to Babbo's reservation line for my birthday dinner--my uncle told me he and my aunt would most likely be able to join me. Getting off my ass and clearing out the rooms with wooden floors.
