F#*$&@! iTunes. Bunnies, please hope me.→[More:] Last night, after re-installing iTunes, it completely fuXXored the way I had my ipod music/podcast folder organized, and "lost" two of my tracks. (I don't know which ones yet; all I know is that the track count is now two less than it was before.) I can't say it's all that great of a piece of software at the best of times - it's slow and buggy.

So, my question to you is: What is a good alternative to itunes? I used it mainly for two things: 1)syncing a music folder with an ipod, and 2) subscribing to various podcasts. I don't buy music from the itunes store, so I don't have to worry about getting around their POSDRM. I have heard good things about Anapod, but the blurbs on that site say nothing about being able to do podcast subscriptions automatically.

Any suggestions?

I also hate iTunes. I have been told it's because I insist upon keeping my mp3s off the internal harddrive and on the external (portable) harddrive. Whatever. I find it slow, unresponsive and prone to crashing.

I adore itunes and I have my my music library on an external drive. That being said, I can't help you. But I don't see why you'd throw everything away over two songs when you don't even know which two are missing. Good luck.

I find iTunes the easiest to use of a bad lot. It got better with version 6, then worse with version 7 and I downgraded.

I don't let it organize any music except the music I rip using iTunes, so I don't have this particular problem. I don't use an iPod or iTunes Store, either, so it's just a generic music player for me.

My laptop shuts down every time I try to burn a cd with iTunes...grr!
