Tell us about a time when fate was kind... Ever had one of those moments when you think, wow, am I ever glad I didn't get what I wanted because I was totally misguided? Spill it.
[More:]
Here's mine... I just found out that a guy I had a huge, unreciprocated crush on in grade nine is now a beefy, bearded, Pentecostal pastor and car salesman in Calgary. (He also has a pretty wife and two adorable children, and they all look very happy, which is lovely.)
All of mine are along those lines (looks at pictures of ex-boyfriends from high school on Facebook; shudders).

Facebook is just a daily affirmation that way, isn't it?

Hehe, yes, yes it is.

I am very, very glad that I didn't get the baby I wanted, even though that meant having to go through an ectopic pregnancy, because if I had gotten pregnant then I would have "stuck it out" and ended up in an unhappy marriage like my mother.

Yup, fate's been kind to me about a thousand times that way.

In 1999 I desperately wanted and needed a certain technical-writing job back home -- interviewed for it but was not hired, to my keen disappointment at the time.

Years later, while underemployed at a pet superstore, I worked briefly alongside another underemployed former technical writer who'd gotten the job I hadn't. It seems his boss was manipulative, psychologically sadistic and condescending, and the organization's presence in that town was insecure anyway; he was unhappy almost the entire time he was there and almost relieved to be laid off. So it sounds like I was marginally better off with the alternate situation I'd found meanwhile.

I'm glad I didn't get into my "stretch" school when I was applying for undergraduate colleges - I met mudd-dude at my third-choice school!

Not much of a post, but man, I love this song. || Two words: Driver's Seat
