I was thinking "there goes the neighbourhood", but, phew, it's a nomination for design. Grats to taz, dodgy, & seanyboy. (Oh, and seperate but equal grats to dabitch).
Ooh, you cynic you, cmonkey. I could register 300 blogs before the results come in just to piss you off.
300 nominations suggests (to old fallible me) a healthy and robust nomination procedure. For those of you who think that online awards ought to resemble USA elections, we could just have a "who's better, Kottke or Drudge?" for each category. Would you prefer that? Or am I missing something?
You can nominate anyone you find missing, I couldn't find the Old Blue over there but then, I couldn't find a category where it would fit nicely in either. Best blog of all time mebbe?

I don't have a weblog, I rarely read weblogs, and I don't vote in weblog award things. Why on earth would that piss me off?
I just think it's a little crazy to expect people to go through 300+ entries to find the "best design" when you know they'll just vote for one they're already familiar with (which may or may not have the best design), so it's really just a popularity contest, not an objective measure of how good a weblog design is.
It would piss you off because it would show that there were as many weblogs as you care to pick a number. (I suspect that the tone of my coments is lost in being typed on the intarweb).
I entirely agree with your last paragraph though, if that makes any difference.
So now I know, definitively, from an objective third party, that if I have a problem with the design of this place, it's my own damned problem and to keep my mouth shut.
