Not content to merely eat my socks and sweaters, my cat Rupert has now graduated to destroying my new digital SLR camera, by knocking the camera bag off the counter. [More:] The damage is not covered by warranty, so I will probably be required to shell out a few hundred dollars, as well as being without my camera for a few weeks (hopefully I will get it back before my May vacation). Argh. What will he do next - wreck my car?
Cats are evil. This is why I have a dog.

That really blows.

In addition to your new camera, may I suggest a better camera bag? One that actually protects it from a three foot fall? Or did it fall out of the bag and onto the floor?

Underwear eating dogs are good?

Underwear is a little cheaper than a digital camera, thank goodness. Poor matildaben :-(

Put Rupert out to stud for a hefty fee so he can pay for your camera. Is he hot? If not, forget it. Sorry about your camera. :(

It's horrible, no doubt it's horrible, but i've had dogs eat fabulous mules and cats ruin fabulous suede boots-- none of these were my cats and dogs, though.
My cat just destroyed months of comic panel with projectile vomit or painted on stuff or--
wow, i miss Phil.

Geez, mats! Time for an insurance policy with "Acts of Woolsucker" coverage.

I live in fear of damaging my dSLR since I bought it used. Luckily, rabbits only chew on books, magazines, pieces of paper, carpet, cords, furniture and clothing.

Oh, OUCH mats- I'm so sorry!

(I had to go almost 2 months without a camera recently... I feel your pain!!)

He's very hot, but unfortunately he's fixed.

It is half my fault since I left the top of the camera bag open.

You just caused the intro to "Toonces! The cat who could drive a car!" to get stuck in my head. Bad mats! :(

Shit! And you seemed so optomistic about it yesterday. It was just the lense mount right? And if it was the DSLR that Rupert wrecked, what was that rig you were shooting with yesterday?

"Honey, you won't believe it. Toonces can drive a car!

Toonces, our Cat?

Yeah -- come on, I'll swhow 'ya!"

That's awful. Maybe he can get a job as a model and work it off.

Trap him in a weighted wash basket.
Time for kitty jail.

That is one handsome cat, bmarkey. And he knows it. haha

What a bummer, bean. Do what I do - threaten to turn him into a pair of slippers if he doesn't behave. It doesn't work but I feel better.

Just back from Camera Techs. It turns out (answering Pi's question) that part of the front plate is cracked as well, which I didn't notice yesterday since I didn't attempt to use the flash. It'll cost about $300 to replace the part and give the camera the once over to take care of any stray plastic shards that might have worked their way in there. The lens would cost to fix about half what I paid for it, so I will take this as an opportunity to buy a new lens (if I can afford it, a better one than the kit lens that broke). The good news is that it will only take a couple of weeks to get it back since they don't have to send it to the manufacturer. I was hoping to go up to the Tulip Festival with some Flickrites this weekend, but I'll just shoot color film instead.

To top it all off, he just tried to steal a brownie off my plate and managed to bite off a small corner before I grabbed it back.

Woolsucking fucker.

See, this is basically your fault. You need to set boundaries with your cats or they will run rampant over you and-

DAMMIT EDDIE GET OFF THE SHOWER CURTAIN. NO, STOP TRYING TO CHEW THROUGH THAT ELECTRICAL CORD. LET GO OF YOUR SISTER'S NECK, SHE DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY. THE HISSING IS A HINT.

Sorry about that, the...phone was ringing. Yes, I can't help but think if you'd been a little less permissive, then Rupert wouldn't act up like this. Furthermore-

ARRGH, STOP SCRATCHING THAT CHAIR! YOU'VE GOT TWO PERFECTLY GOOD SCRATCHING POSTS! WHAT? OKAY, I'LL GET YOUR TOYS OUT FROM UNDER THE OVEN BUT THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE LAST TIME. TODAY.

Uh, the phone again. where was I? Oh yes: boundaries. Set boundaries with your cat and they'll be well behaved and-

WHAT WAS THAT NOISE? HOW THE HELL DID YOU KNOCK THAT OVER? I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO CLEAN THAT UP AGAIN.

I uh, guess I should really take that call. Think about the truth of what I'm telling you while-

OH GOD NO, DON'T PUKE ON THAT. I JUST WASHED IT!

The whole scenario is really unfortunate, but I'm so sorry, this did make me laugh.
