06 April 2007

I just called 999 on my neighbour [More:]Last evening I had to knock on his door to ask if it would be ok for me to access my shed roof from his garden. The door was answered by a young woman who introduced herself to me as Nicole. She said Vic was asleep.

A huge row is going on now, she is screaming, he is threatening. I've called the police.
Are they there yet?

No, I just had to call again and they said two cars are on their way. I told them to hurry. It's escalating.

The girl has just left the property, carrying armfuls of clothes. I don't know if she has her own car but she walked away from the flat and I didn't see where she went after that.

Police are here.

i hope she doesn't get in trouble instead.

He's refusing to let them in. They said they won't go until he does.

He's let them in now, after about 5 minutes of them knocking. I'd already phoned back and told the police the girl had left, so there is no 'incident' now but they are inside talking to him anyway.

They've gone. Without him, sadly.

Although my plan for today was to fix my shed, I will instead go out for the day.

She's back! She's outside, trying to get in and there's a man with a big van there too. He won't answer the door.

Now she's gone again. He wouldn't answer the door. I expect she wanted to get the rest of her stuff.

Is this the same neighbor you were typing about the other day? If it is, hang in there. Many hugs. Watch out for your safety.

Yes, it's the same guy. His life is chaos. Two weeks ago he had a prostitute drugged and tied up in his flat (so she told me, and I believe she was telling the truth) and yesterday there was this young woman living there with him. At least 35 years younger than him, I'd say. He's about 60, she is no more than 25.

I hope her friend with the van comes back later and she's able to get her stuff.

Wow, you're definitely living next to one of life's more scummier people. I hope this turns out okay and she gets her stuff out. Also: the weather is pretty good today, so I'd take your own advice and go out for a few hours.

Sounds stressful, essexjan. But the guy is building a pattern, now, with the local police. That he's doing it at his residence address argues that it is more a result of stupidity and meanness of character than dark pathological motives, but bad actors are bad actors. And at this point, he probably no longer gives a toss what his neighbors think of him, so you could be in for more episodes of real life drama in the coming weeks, absent one of his paramours coming to the point of pressing charges which would get him in serious trouble. But, in my experience, there is still some ground between not giving a damn what the neighbors think, and getting in their faces, unless booze or drugs are also involved.

Sorry you're having to be witness to this, but don't let it unduly affect the way you live your life.

What a scumbag. Going out for the day sounds like a great plan.

I wish these working girls had better communication to warn each other about this creep.

Or, you know, that the police would help do so...

Gah essexjan! My neighbor is horrid, but so far he's only pulled white-collar stuff---and I consider building a megayacht marina in the Virgin Islands to be in that category.

what PlanetKyoto said. Don't they have a myredbook there or something equivalent?
