What are you doing right now? [More:]Other than sitting in front of your computer of course…

Me, procrastinating, thinking, and biding away my time until tomorrow when I start my new job. Tried to search for the Calvin and Hobbes link earlier but it was dead. Damn!
Getting ready to go to my parents' house for a Passover seder. I enjoy the Passover seder each year, but I don't enjoy the part where my mom is totally stressed out about preparing for it during the hours before.

Stealing time.

Trying to make myself get up and go to the library. I'm so lazy today for some reason.

Getting drunk. I'm about five stops down the line.

Uh, ask again in five minutes.

And knock next time.

The pot-smoking hippie overlords won a big court case, and so we're doing our typical scrambling around, alerting supporters, stepping on our own toes, etc.

Wondering why oh why I'm still in school. Wondering why my school has to suck as bad as it does. Trying not to die of exhaustion right this very instant. Killing time until 1:50 when I have to drug some cells. About to get up and go to the neighbour lab's office to gripe and maybe steal some food.

Sitting here smoking and drinking a beer, getting ready to go to pips' folks place for a seder. mmm, gefilte fish. (seriously, I love the stuff)

MeChaTwitter?
I finished editing a very pretty wedding DVD tonight (the ceremony was Saturday) and I put in blank DVD to burn it, but it's been stuck on the "asset encoding" phase for almost hours now.

Oh, lucky me! Just as I wrote that it moved on to "multiplexing and burning."

Worrying about Kaylee. Her right knee has gone out, as we were warned it might, and I dropped her off at the vet's this morning.

Reminder: her left ACL went out six weeks ago. It's healed well per the vet.

Arming the Rebel Alliance.
Also, hypnotising small children.

Using this very post as an excuse not to work on a certain project that's turned out to have a higher-than-expected tedium-to-pay factor (e.g., high on the tedium side, low on the pay side). Just went for coffee and a bagel. Mmm. Sunlight is so bright outside my window. Cool breeze. Birds chirping. Freeway white noise in the distance. I've been fed and caffeinated. It's all quite lovely, actually. Don't know why I'm complaining. I'd just so much rather hang out here in the comment box than that spreadsheet I'm about to plunge into.

Watching a soap I don't watch and waiting for the Advil to kick in. Then I really need to go put on pants.

Listening to my infant squeak and grunt in his swing. (I love you, swing!) Killing time with y'all until I have to pick up his sister from school.

Feel better soon, Pips and chococat!

Crunching entirely too hard on work stuff that I promised by 4p today (it's 1.45 now). Missing Los Angeles. Missing my boyfriend.

Pants are overrated.
posted by LunaticFringe 02 April | 12:44
As shown here.

I hotlinked this so I sure hope it doesn't turn into something nasty.
posted by LunaticFringe 02 April | 12:46
Now I so want some polka dot pants.

(thanks jrossi... never did get to say congrats on the little one! : )

I'm at a conference in sunny Florida. Our conference room has no windows and is air conditioned to the perfect 70 degrees. I walked outside for lunch and didn't want to come back.

The plan for tonight - sneak a six-pack on to the beach, drink, and read until the sun sets.

Ostensibly reading some C# code, but my mind keeps drifting toward tweaks to my résumé and a cover letter -- current job's ending soon, time to find another.

(Happiness is realizing my old pants don't fit anymore because they're too big to look neat.)

Have been flirting with the IT guy for the last two hours while he tweaked the server and untangled wires and so on. I have such a crush on him and he doesn't even know it. Now he's gone and I'm eating lunch in my newly spongepainted orange & white office which is SO AWESOME that I like it more than my house!

Sulking. I lost 29.5 pounds in 12 weeks and still lost in The Great Company Fat-Off. The winner dropped almost 16% of his starting weight, and he was pretty thin to begin with!
posted by eamondaly 02 April | 13:16
mygothlaundry, unless he's brain-dead (in which case, what's he doing in IT?), how could he not have noticed you have crush on him if you've been flirting with him for two hours? I'd probably notice I'm being flirt with in about, oh, five seconds or so...
posted by PaxDigita 02 April | 13:16
flirted with, meant to say....

I am being very excited that mgl's office finally got painted!

I am also developing an internet crush on seanyboy, but sssssh, nobody tell him!

I'm doing that crazy move from Tai-Chi Master where you roll your pelvis and your arms and then shoot a shock of pure chi energy at some poor bastard. Also digesting steak.
posted by Divine_Wino 02 April | 13:19
Yahbut I'm terrible at flirting. So he probably didn't notice. Anyway maybe he has a girlfriend? Or is gay? Or is just not interested? I always flirt with him and he never notices. I'm trying to come up with the balls to just ask him to go have a beer after work (he's a contractor; he doesn't work for the same place as me) but I never have the nerve. Anyway I'm kind of seeing somebody. Or not. See? I spaz out even at the thought of acting further on this crush. Sheesh.
posted by mygothlaundry 02 April | 13:23
Well, you could always try quiet pause, the level, steady gaze, and a quiet "Tell you what: Let's screw."

(Kidding, kidding.)

Some people do pointedly ignore flirting for all the stated reasons or because, sadly, they're just not all that into you -- it's a drag being on either side of tha t (non-)relationship, I know. But for the teeny bit of your stuff I've read from time to time, as verbally expressive as you've been, I find it hard to accept that you'd be terrible at flirting -- a terrible flirt, more likely.

All out of sorts because i just found out i have an appointment at 3:15 i can't possibly make, and finding out in the course of trying to remedy the situation that today is definitely not going as planned. It never does. This sucks.
And yet, it's gorgeous outside.

Waiting patiently for the guys who are putting in new tiles in my bathroom to finish up. Wishing I hadn't given them beer while they were working because they seem to be slacking off. Smoking furiously.

We're just returned from errands (writing, printing, and delivering a movie newsletter; trip to the library; picking up movies; grocery shopping). Lying on our bed, Mr. Show playing in the background, thinking about a late lunch/early dinner, and my SO is dozing next to me, sleepily squeezing my bum. A good day.

I just woke up and I'm trying to summon the energy to make coffee and go laze about in the sun and the garden. Last night was the night of the never ending technical glitches. I really, really hope I'm not doing a pirate/net radio broadcast all fucking night long on a full moon in a long, long time.

That was, like, unboring as all hell and all, but I really don't need that much excitement to not be bored.

Between the dozen-odd power outages, the two random exploding appliances and possible fires, the net going down three times and *that guy* who somehow thought it'd be a really wonderfully good idea to use the frickin' DSL modem, router and 24 port switch (and massive pile of cables) as a fucking pillow for his nap time - I'm not quite sure what was more crazy making.

*that guy* trying to sleep on the router-pile was a pretty good one, though. Haven't seen that one before.

However, now I'm considering putting on my tightest black 501s and going and upgrading mgl's server. If she flirted with me I'd probably notice.

What's the lumpiest pile of plastic I can doze on in this room?

That's like my cat, "Which pile of books, cd's and windchimes is the most precarious and what is the optimum post 4 am moment for me to try to leap to the top?"

I am sitting in the student lounge reading MeCha instead of writing a blog post for a class.

Remembrances of a former lover keep drifting through my mind. I miss his scent and his touch. The thought of his smile still electrifies my skin. I really wish it didn't.

resting from working in the sun all day. also feeling of a lump in my neck that popped up sometime yesterday evening and wondering a) is it a swollen lymph node and b) should I go to the doctor or ignore it? I am thinking yes and ignore it.

I'm drunk, just having finished reading to my sister's voicemail a paper I'd in the past few hours concocted on the evolution of American surreal humor. If only I could submit her voicemail recordings as the paper itself, it would be both complete and to the utmost, self-reference being an important concept to American surreal humor and all.

At least SOME bunnies were included at seder. I had enough of begging to be included at Thanksgiving, I'm not about to be taken in like a stray dog now.

I went to a reading but the person I knew couldn't care less that I was there, the idiot doorman left the door wide open (I would MUCH prefer to have my own key to let myself in) and my neighbor sent me a snarky email about my slamming the door.
