I found a fatty keyboard in the parking lot at work. [More:]
So I found this big, heavy box in the parking lot of my office a few weeks ago. It looked important, and I was the last to leave, so I put it in my car. I didn't want it to get cold overnight and get wet if it rained. As I was driving away I thought, "I hope it's not a bomb. Or full of body parts." I didn't open the case until the next day - that's when I found the Orchestrator.

It did belong to someone at work, they were going to give it to someone else at work, but the second person didn't want it. So it's mine now. It has no power cable so I don't know if it works. It's missing some slidey things that control the volume.

In doing research about it, I found out that it was made in Italy by Crumar. It was released in the 70's. And here's a great demo I found this evening.

I must find a power cord that won't fry it. I must find little slidey things to fix it. I want to keep the Orchestrator! Anyone know where I can start?
The power cord appears to be the same kind of cord that you use for a desktop computer, and I bet you could find any broken analog synth on eBay and use the slider tabs from that.

Email my little brother. He'll know. Old keyboards like that are totally his thing.

Oh, right. I forgot I don't actually, like, know most of you people in, y'know, real life.

Uh, email's in profile if nobody else here knows and you want me to hook you up with him.

And by hook up, I mean "make a music-related connection." He's, like, married. With a kid. And stuff.

p.s. I'm drunk can you tell?

i have nothing to add to cmonkey's expertise and dersin's drunken ramblings, only to say:

holeeeeee cow, woman, that is one FINE keyboard. deff go fix that thing up.

and chase down cortex. he knows about these things, i'll warrant.

What a sweet name for a keyboard! I tried to uncover a few places to find some parts for it but was not successful. An ad on KeyboardMag.com (search for Crumar and there's an email in the ad) might lead you to a source though,

Looks like Keith Emerson is doing illegal dumping again.

I would've guessed Rick Wakeman myself, jon. Oh, and did I ever mention that Jon Anderson is a near-neighbor of mine? (Actually, about 7 miles away as the crow flies, double that if you have to use a car... still, it's cool that the nearest Aging Rock Star to my semi-rural location is one I LIKE. Unfortunately, I haven't lived here long enough to get into his local live performance last Friday. But I don't know if an acoustic version of "Leave It" would be all that great.)

The power connector is standard. Nearly any computer/monitor power cable will work.

Just listened to that sound sheet - that's hot! You can record your own Dr. Who episode!
