Emma, who are you? Hey Metachat, I've got a story for you...[More:]About ten years ago, a group of folks at my undergrad alma mater decided to decorate or new buildings with pseudo historical displays. I spotted a silver gelatin print, linked above, and was overwhelmed that this was perhaps the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.

Subsequently, I photographed the original and produced a convincing fake, which is still there to this day. What's important is that I saw this woman, Emma, as that's what the inscription on the photo seems to say, as the most beautiful empathetic being I'd ever experienced... Subsequently, I've fantasized about a life with her in the late 19th century on the Oregon or Washington coast.

Truly, she means so much to me... I do love her. I hope she rests peacefully...h
What does the inscription say? I can't read any word except "Emma".

She reminds me of Gaspode.

She reminds me of jessamyn. Looks like it says Lovingly, Emma, '98.

Cool story. I'd love to hear more about your life with her.

There's definitely something jessamyn-like about her. She looks like she was someone fun to hang out with; she looks like she's about to smile or trying not to whilst getting photographed.

pie - have you ever seen the movie Somewhere in Time or read the book (also known as Bid Time Return)? It's a sappy chick flick/book but I loves it to pieces. Anyway, your post reminds me of it.

For some reason this reminded me of that Afghan girl that ended up on the cover of National Geographic, and then turned up later MUCH the worse for wear, after a very hard life.

One prefers to remember them young and un-care-worn. If she was on the coast during that time, life was not very easy, compared to later times.

I know what you mean, pieisexactlythree. When going through my grandmother's photo collection, I came across this woman, who I still think is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. (Which reminds me, I need to refind and scan more of these photos... there are a few other great ones of her in my room in some frames which I just realized aren't on the internets)

This may explain why I think Regina Spektor is absolutely gorgeous. They look pretty similar.

I have three silver gelatin prints of people that I ponder... Wish I had scans of them to show you guys; they are all haunting and beautiful people!

I have a wedding photo of my great-great grandparents on my mother's side. The funny thing is that if you look at the bride and her sisters, and then at my mother and her sisters, well, you can see the family resemblences. It fascinates me. I wish I had better pictures of my aunts to show you; I'd find a way to post them side by side, and the wedding picture.

Yes me too - that was the first thing I thought when I clicked the link.

Youngergirl44: Really? Have a picture to post? It'd be super nifty to have three lookalikes.

Specklet, have you seen the boxes of photos they have at some of the antique stores in Sellwood? I've been wondering about how I could do some sort of project that would incorporate them. Last Sunday I went into the shop next to Starbucks at 13th and SE Tacoma, and found a box full of glass plate photos. Amazing!
