When is the best time to post a Craigslist ad? A job ad, specifically.[More:] Last round, I posted later in the day, and I didn't get very many resumes. I was thinking Friday, early A.M. might net a lot of applicants (people sitting at their desks bored, lol). Any thoughts?

Also, any recs on other sites to post job ads on? Already posted on my college alumni board, and the MeFi Jobs section.
Based entirely on my unscientific survey of myself, I definitely looked at listings most often late Thursday - Sunday, and felt weird about responding to posts that had been up for more than a few days (I figured that they had already been swamped with resumes, so it wasn't worth bothering unless I knew I'd be a REALLY strong candidate).

If I was looking on the weekend, things posted on Thursday seemed the upper limit that I'd look at.

Which is to say, yeah, Friday morning seems like a good plan.

(And I love the Idealist.org job site, but that's only applicable if you're a non-profit.)

I guess people assumed that for us, too, because we didn't get very many resumes. I plan on tweaking our ad, too, to make it a little more appealing (Free beer on the job! 10 week paid vacations to exotic locations! Supermodel assistant)

You left off the army of minions to attend to one's every need. I mean, a supermodel assistant is nice and all, but it's no army of minions.

Do you really want someone who spends time on the job reading Craigslist? heheh

It would nice if there were an easy way for job posters to update the postings when they have been filled.

But I'd goo with Friday am as well. Though the unemployed generally aren't so clued into the days of the week as the employed since weekends are kind of meaningless when all week is a weekend.

Friday.
Use an email address dedicated to the advertisement -- we posted one for an executive assistant position, and were deluged with ~250 messages over the course of five days, with the last responses coming in a full three weeks after the initial posting.

Fourthing or so Fridays.

Will your tweaks also expose a bit more of the kinds of projects this person would manage? It's the area of the mefi description I wished for more of (as pretend job seeker).

Yes, I will tweak that part a little, safetyfork.

And you will have success! I'm wishing you fabulous candidates.

Me too. It really is a great place to work; but it's hard to explain what we do. And the position is still being formed; there's lots of room for the new hire to create the position. I think that's pretty cool, for a person who likes that sort of freedom.

I saw the ad you posted on Mefi Jobs, but figured you'd be swamped with resumes by now. Guess not...perhaps I'll send mine in after all. :)
