27 February 2007

well, Better Half's accepted an offer and we're moving to Glasgow.[More:]
I'll start packing the house up today, and also will start looking for work.

It wasn't the offer I would have accepted but heck, it will be interesting for him. He'll be a bit of a change agent there. This will be new for him (to say the least).

I am a bit intimidated by Glasgow, from afar, but hopefully I will find my own places there and settle in fine.
I've only spent a couple of days in Glasgow but I really liked it. Great looking architecture, great night life, a cool music scene, what more could you want.

a question mark?

*wink*

Exciting, Grace; we can compare notes on moving and adjusting to new cities!

Like dodgygeezer I only ever spent a short time in Glasgow (maybe a couple of weeks in total), but I found it a fine city & its folk most hospitable.

Glasgow is a fine place and you will indeed find your own places there because there are many more places to find than there are in Dundee. Dundee itself is only a short train trip away (so keeping in touch with friends won't be too difficult), and Edinburgh is just as close as it was before (depending on how far out of Glasgow you end up settling).

The islands of the west coast are right there, and the Highlands are easier to get to.

Political life will probably be more vibrant. Cultural life will certainly be so. (You can see the two combined in the Peoples' Palace, and that's just one of many delights in store).

Moving sucks though, as does finding a new job, so good luck with both of those.

How exciting!! I think you'll like it just fine. Moving does suck, but new places can be so much fun.

Glasgow rules - after ten years here, it would take a lot to get me to move away.

Drop me a line if you fancy a pint/pointers on things to do and see/&c.

If nothing else, a decision has been made and that's a relief, eh?

You'll do great there, Grace. And hey, you have at least a two person meet-up started!

I wish my girlfriend would get a job in Glasgow!

Oh, and take me with her, of course!

How cool! I've never been , but it sounds completely charming and hip as hell.

aww, you guys are the awesome.

jack_mo: I would love that!

Gecko: Indeed Political Life will be more vibrant. Full of tarantulas and snakes and zombie haggi! I will be hiding at the back of my posse quietly for a while, believe you me. :)

I have been informed that Prince covered "What if God were one of us?" Does anybody have that lying around? (Please disregard if this violates the guidelines..)
