Hey guys! Miss me? [More:]I've been in Russia for almost two weeks now and I must say that I quite like it here, despite things being the way they are. I live in a huge (it's meant for four people but there's only two of us living here) room in one of the university dormitories. The building looks like it was built in the late 1940's or early 1950's and its facade hasn't been painted since. The ceilings are about three and a half meters high; the wallpapers old and torn. We drew and wrote things on the walls to make them look a bit more cheerful, but it didn't help much. The room's still pretty much just as awful as it was before.

Yet I like it here. I like living in this shack. I like the fact that there's people standing by the window just outside my door, smoking and chatting. I even like the kitchens. I would never have thought that I might like living in a place like this but, well, I do.

The crowd living in this place is really international. I live a mostly-Russian dormitory, but the people I came here with share their dorm with Vietnamese, Chinese, Armenians, Germans and Africans (too many different countries to remember). It's like Babylon here. The only thing missing is the cursed tower, but I'm quite sure we'll get around to building one before we leave.

And I don't miss home at all. I only wish I could be with Her...
Oh, that sounds lovely and romantic, in a very bleak post-Communist sort of way.

Are you staying up late, drinking vodka, and debating philosophy? Because I think that would be required.

It sounds thrilling - I would love to do that. I have a certain fascination with Russia and Russians that may be purely literary... But, anyway, say hello to Margarita for me (and have a fabulous time)!

This thread is useless without pictures.

What? Someone had to say it!
Glad you're liking it, though. Sounds very interesting.
